Re: visual thread

Great idea for a thread Raf, I love photography. WOW!!! What great photos from everyone. Raf I don't think your a bad photographer, those photos of yours are stunning, they really capture the 'moment' of each place. What is the meaning behind the shoes by the river in Bucharest? The Dresden one at night is lovely with the reflection in the water. I'm like you Lauren I haven't mastered photos at night, I love the thrid one of yours in the evening with the lights coming on. Les the beauty of some of those photos brought tears to my eyes, spectacular scenery you have where you live. Naomi - Muuuuuuse! I remember from the Adelaide show in 07 some of the petals from one of those balloons starting falling on us before the show started and then after the show people are picking up the petals as momentos

Great photos everyone, keep them coming! And loving this thread Raff!

I've got a few more ~ I'm the Scottish Tourist Board in disguise ;P All the ones I've posted so far are within 10 miles of my house but I have been further afield, will try to dig out some west coast or island ones for next time

Stranded tree stump when Loch Mhor was drained (more Hydro stuff)

typical single track road round Loch Tarff

Same loch in autumn

More autumny misty lochyness

And again (my commute to work is really quite spectacular)

Some misty mountains (the Monadhliaths)

Re: visual thread

^^ Very nice pictures. Wow.

I wish I was as good in photography as you guys. I suck at taking pictures at night as well.

Here are some from a photo essay I compiled last year. It's from the streets of Perth, focusing on the 78 Records shop stickers:
I was about to ask you if those streets are in Melbourne CBD until I read your post.

Manchester United - Inter Milan - Porto

Adelaide Alyce a special thank you for the bird pics, especially the magpie, their song is so beautiful They're so tame compared to our magpies(apart from when they're defending their territory-when its best defend yourself with something rather large over your head).

Re: visual thread

Melbourne seems to have an affect on people Whenever I see photos of Melbourne or shots of Melbourne on tv I get all sentimental. I'd love to live there someday.

Di - it's a bit of a funny story with the magpies, I was with Mum in the botanic gardens and we were sitting on a bench having a rest when two magpies started circling us rather menacingly then a third came behind us and had us surrounded. I was freaking out not knowing what they were going to do, telling Mum not to make any sudden moves whilst she was just laughing her head off...we made it out alive though. They must be used to people giving them bits of food, but we didn't have any.

I decided to try and get a "light all night" shot (with my crap point and shoot camera)
So here it is - this was taken at 23.45 last Saturday night from a hill looking north over Inverness towards the eternal sunset

yes I did have to photoshop it a bit but not too much!

Re: visual thread

Les, that sunset is amazing, does the sky look like that all night in summer?
