Re: Australian Open series 2009

Hi guys

I hope you don't mind me popping in here. I've been liking Gilles more and more during the 2nd half of last season and after watching more matches during the Hopman Cup I'm liking him even more. I'm really looking forward to going to watch him play some matches at the AO

Re: Australian Open series 2009

It's a tough draw but I don't think it's possible to get an easy draw in such a tournament ! Gilles has never beaten Richard before but there is always a first time to everything even though I would prefer him to play Tursunov since we have better memories...

Allez Simon, you rock

Re: Australian Open series 2009

Hey Peta! so glad to see you in here!

It's perhaps a bit twisted way to see things but I actually prefer him take on Richard, for if Gilles wins, it will be a more significant victory and a bigger boost for his confidence and if par malheur he is to lose, it would be a lesser upset (and all in all, I prefer having Richard go deep than Tursunov).

And I don't think it was possible to have a worse first opponent than Ritchie, given their h2h. Look at the rest of the draw.

I'm not saying Gilles can't beat Richard Gasquet, I badly wanted them to meet in Bucharest because I was sure Gilles was finally going to win then - but here, it's a different story. Gilles looked quite shaky on serve lately, I don't think he needs the extra pressure for his first real match.

I don't htink he'll put pressure on his back if he plays Gasquet! He's not the type of guy who does that !

So far, the premise looks good. They'll play on Tuesday and all 2nd round matches are sheduled on Wednesday day session.

Re: Australian open 2009

The official FFT website for AO is available http://www.fft.fr/open-australie/2009/?ID= It's the same design than for Master France. I found it quite nice On the forum the question before the beginning is "Who will be the best frenchie ? " If you want to argue

ps : this thread is for AO ?
