Re: Hardcourt season 2008

Well like you said earlier Fran he doesn't have a lot of points to defend. Here's hoping he will have a great summer hardcourt season and do well at the Olympics.

Allez Gilles.

Looking forward to seeing him play again.

Gillou playing against Mahut... I don't like Gillou playing against a countryman.

Allez Simon, you rock

Re: Hardcourt season 2008

And I don't like him playing against Mahut in particular.
They really seem to get along very well with Gilles, both times I've seen him practice this year (Zagreb and Hamburg), it was with Nico and they were joking a lot together and having fun.

Mahut has had such a bad grass season, he must be quite low on confidence. But it's a very tough match for a first round after a break, 50-50 imo.

Re: Hardcourt season 2008

They've never played before in a match but still ... Gilles against another Frenchman is never good. That whole section is tough.

Re: Hardcourt season 2008

He plays doubles with Mahut. Nico is a great doubles player, maybe Gilles will win his 1st doubles match since Marseille!
They play Fisher-Phillips in the 1st round.

Nico and Gilles will play their singles match
at about 15:30 EST on Monday.

Hopefully there will be some livestream somewhere.

Re: Hardcourt season 2008

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any livestream for Indy. That's too bad, it is so unusual to see him scheduled on the Center Court for a first-round match (unless he's playing a crowd favorite or a local player)! Even in the very French friendly Casablanca event, he was playing on outside courts for all his first rounds.

Re: Hardcourt season 2008

Wow, 4 games in a row to take the set 6-2, and he didn't even face a BP by closing out the set, I'm impressed! I was expecting the usual struggle, all the more since he has horrible 1st serve stats so far (33%). ^^

Re: Hardcourt season 2008

4-3* Nico, Gilles is doing a good job to hold his service games despite of these atrocious stats, but can't he get a 1st serve into the box from time to time?? This is going to end up badly!

Re: Hardcourt season 2008

Broken to love, 5-3.

Aaargh, 6-3, although Nico tried his best to choke and double-faulted at 30-30.

Re: Hardcourt season 2008

Small struggle to hold at 3-3, but he holds. This match is making me nervous.
The serve stats are looking more normal now (but still very average, around 50%). We need a little help from Nico.
