Re: The video thread

Thanks Nat.

Good to know he's thinking about getting a coach, I thought he still insists that he can go solo. Wonder who he has in mind... Wino is not coaching anyone right now, is he

Re: The video thread

I hope he doesn't quit tennis just because he gets injured, don't say things like that Gilles.

Anyway, it's pretty cool that he's still best pals with Gael after all these years. He seems like such a loyal friend, the long-term relationship with Thierry and Gael are just two examples.

Thanks for translating.
and +1 for the speaking and understanding of French. I'm trying very hard to learn, but I can't understand what Gilles says (except for the English song ). And Gilles is one of the Frenchies who articulates very clearly. Benny makes one sentence sound like one word. My French friends tell me French is supposed to sound like that.

Corona host guy: "I didn't know you had so many fans."

In classic Gilles Simon fashion: "I didn't know either."

Yes Gilles, we exist and we are out there everywhere.

Re: The video thread

I didn't watch the match cos I didn't think it would be too difficult for Gilles to beat Tipsy.

But I was wrong Gilles being Gilles, he not only beats his opponents, he makes sure they won't walk again for weeks.

Last game took 15 min. Also at Gilles smirking at Tipsy when he challenged the lob... Tipsy had to stop challenging or he'd look more stupid.

Re: The video thread

End of second set Vs Federer at Masters Cup 2008, Stepanek (an adept serve and volley player) is proud of Gilles after that he served-and-volleyed at 10:30 lol:

End of third set, Gilles played some great tennis, a lot of winners
especially in this set:

Re: The video thread

An interview from this past March at the BNP Paribas Open. Gilles talks about his game and what he feels he has to do to win against bigger stronger opponents and how his game has changed over the years versus how he played when he first came on the tour and how he struggles to find the happy medium between the two styles today.

Also on a personal note, I'd just like to say that i've never been more jealous of a plastic miniature water bottle in all my life.

Re: The video thread

Wow, great interview. He's in the mood to talk and he touched good subjects. I like the Robin Soderling's attitude change part the most. Give you perspective into the lives of top guys. Talents/abilities can be similar, it's attitude (or mentality) that takes these guys to the next level.

Oh, Gilles, you should just listen to yourself
