Ernests in 2017

I don't see him on the entry list of AO or any other tournaments. Looks like he decided to skip Australia again.

This looks like a recent photo. Practicing in Tenerife maybe? https://www.instagram.com/p/BOIY_R2A...q0Zjv_99BDqo0/

Yes, according to Michal Novotny he was in Tenerife (that photo from Instagram was initially posted by him).

There was also this encouraging tweet - for whatever it's worth.

If he waits until February he can use a protected ranking (it will only be around No. 100 but still better than nothing) so maybe that played a part in his decision to skip Australia. Or maybe he just isn't ready yet after a long injury layoff.

I hope this can work like in 2013 and he can get back on track this year. But he doesn't look in good physical shape based on this picture.

Nice! I hope he's finally healthy. He must believe he can get back to at least top 20, otherwise he wouldn't keep playing.

For anyone interested: His protected ranking is 99, he entered Rotterdam Qualifying with it.

He has withdrawn from Montpellier Q with a "Wrist/Hand" injury.

That's bad news. Will he ever get rid of this injury?

Re: Ernests in 2017

Most people consider him the favourite vs Donskoy now but I don't because he will feel that longish match in his legs (was struggling in the 2nd set vs Stakho already) but to get a win in your first match after such a long time is a very nice start and good for the head.

I agree but he was near to win his second match.
18 aces and 83% of first serve win.
Had 3 match points in last game could'nt convert and had a lead in the 3rd tye break and lost it...12-10.

But the first match yesterday is a nice boost for him.

He won one Q match, it's good enough for a start.

Re: Ernests in 2017

I agree, not a bad start. According to the entry lists he doesn't play anything before Indian Wells (starts in three weeks). I'm a little surprised about that, I hope it's a good idea.
