nice :)
Darren is right. He moves so well on court this year, he has good speed for a tall guy, and that point agains Rafa is just WOW :worship:

I really can't imagine that people don't know where Latvia is  maybe because I'm from Europe  but again is not excuse, I know countries from all other continents. But otherwise I'm not surprised, I'm used to it because a lot of people doesn't know where Serbia is, they think it's in Africa or Siberia

Here's a bit of translation:

Q: Are you excited to finally be playing in a tournament again (meaning the pause since IW has been quite long)?

A: Actually yes. Maybe not so much for the Davis Cup but I can't wait to play more and get more points and get higher in the rankings. I think I'm about no.55 now and if I have one, two, or three good results I can easily get to no. 30 or 20. This is sort of my short-term goal. My level of play is still high, as high as it was in Indian Wells. We left for Vienna right after IW and I've been practicing on clay there all this time so I think it's an advantage for me over the other guys (who will have practiced less on clay). Also the fact that the Davis Cup matches are right here where the Masters tournament will begin in a week... It's the best preparation I could possibly have had.

Q: After seeing how Miami turned out, you probably made the right decision by withdrawing from the tournament. Would you have played if you had gotten a wild card?

A: Yes, then I would definitely have played there. But as it was, if I wanted to get a meaningful amount of points, at least 90 points that would get my ranking a couple of places higher, well I would have to win at least 5 matches. I talked with my coach and we agreed that I definitely didn't need more match practice at that point, and to play Miami just for points was not worth the trouble. I'm hoping I can get into Monte-Carlo directly, I'm third behind the line and usually there are some players who withdraw.

Next they talk about Davis Cup stuff, nothing very interesting. Ernests says he hasn't been preparing for the Davis Cup specifically, he's been preparing for the clay season in general. He talks about practicing with Dominic Thiem at 5:55, they've been practicing together in Monte-Carlo as well. Ernests says it's a very good situation for him because when they practice together Dominic always works for the benefit of Ernests and hits the kind of balls that Ernests needs. Ernests thinks Dominic will definitely get into the top 100 eventually.

Post match interviews with Andis and Ernests: http://sportacentrs.com/teniss/latvijas_sportisti/06042013-gulbis_man_ir_pilnigi_vienalga_pret_ko_sp

Ernests says it was all in all a good first clay match for him. He was not nervous at all and didn´t even consider a chance of losing a set. He knew that if he needed the point he would take ít. So he was playing more agressively than usually in order to get some more feel about his shots and get used to clay. He said to Bresnik after the match that he could have won with a better result but then he would have had to play longer rallies and run more. He played more freely and attack more also sometimes in wrong situations, but he feels like he got some positives out of this match.

Then they talk about next matches and Ernests says he doesn´t think his next opponent is much better. He says he´s an average clay player who knows somewhat how to play on clay. Ernests thinks for sure Andis is a better player, but he just doesn´t know how to play on clay.

All in all Ernests seems confident about his own game, but refused to predict anything about doubles. He said he will try to help Andis also to get into the positive mindset before the match but doubles is doubles.

At 5:40 you can see that both his dad and mom are in Monte-Carlo:)

Thanks:) Not much new in that one though.
He talks about Nadal match how he should've closed it in two sets and next time he will be more concetrated in start of second set if he was in that situation again.
Then he talks about how he beleives he has it in him to be a top player and he wants to reach his potential. He says some people on tour don´t have the game to climb higher than no 20 or 15, but he does. Also, that´s what he meant about top 100 players (how some objectively don´t have the top 100 game but somehow are there anyway).
