Re: Ernests in Summer 2011 - The Tournament Thread

I just think he would be better off doing something else,he wanted to play a folk guitar,go and study,so why not to do that instead, he'd enjoy it more. I know I would.

And of course I understand about the travelling, etc etc. He chose it,its not working out because he has no direction,no desire, and the competing aspect is long gone from him, so why not do something else??

I like him,but not as a tennis player

Re: Ernests in Summer 2011 - The Tournament Thread

Déjà-vu, anyone? We've been through this so often. Maybe it's time for the people who lost their belief in Ernests to stand up and leave instead of upsetting people who haven't stopped believing

It's just not cool to keep reading that over and over again throughout the years If you've had it, then so it'll be and I will not judge you for it. But we've been through this a lot, and I think it's time to either get over it or end it.

I say what I say, because its my honest opinion right now,my opinions differ from the rest.

I am used to being a voice in the wilderness on many things, not just this Que Sera Sera

I just dont see how he can arrest this slide, there's nothing in him right now that convinces me he can live up to his potential any time soon.

I am entitled to 'stop believing' and also entitled to 'believe' as much or as little as I want to

I hope my opinions choke me to death one day, since I am so terrible for speaking my mind,I have tried not to do negative but I have and once again I got jumped on.

I know I am hated here. Its fine.

Re: Ernests in Summer 2011 - The Tournament Thread

If he wants to keep playing tennis, he needs a better, experienced coach to guide him technically, physically, and mentally. And he definitely needs to practice a lot. Most top players practice a lot on a regular basis, so he can't reply on the so-called talent only.

Yes, I said something similiar in another thread.

I think it's pretty clear that Ernests is a strong-minded individual - I get the impression that if he was really unhappy, he wouldn't have any qualms about admitting it.....he would just go his own way.

None of us really know what's going on with him just now - we can only speculate.

Of course his game is in a slump (albeit a pretty long one) and only he can get himself out of it, if he chooses to.

Sad to hear he lost today but I wish him all the best for Wimbledon anyway and I hope he gets himself back on track soon.

Much love to him

Don't say that Di. It's always hard on a forum because there are so many different personalities in one place. Of course it's going to clash. People don't always agree with me and I don't expect them to. Like you,I speak my mind & defend my opinion. I said this on FB, it's not always easy for me to read harsh criticism against Ernests, specially from fellow fans. You used to play tennis & see more in facts and stats. You can separate Ernests as a person & Ernests as a tennis player. I don't do that. I see him as both a great person & a tennis player all in one. It's easy for me to feel protective over him because of that. You have every right to speak your mind and you are not the only one who feels the way you do, it's just sometimes you come off so harsh and blunt that others who feel similar to the way I do can feel down about it. I hate talking about him leaving tennis. That does upset me a great deal. I can see where you guys are coming from but it's still very hard to swallow. Like I said before, if he decided to quit I will always respect that but he hasn't left tennis yet. Some of us just feel like, as fans, we should be more supportive than negative. But as I said before, we are all different. You yourself Di get upset at some posters on here for being negative and down on Ernests, so I hope you can understand why people like Ellen and I would feel slightly defensive at some of your comments. You know, or at least I hope you know that I could never hate you. We may not agree but that doesn't make you a bad person for having a different opinion.

Honestly, I think his biggest issue is mentally. He has said it many times that he lacks confidence in himself. I can strongly relate to that, and I can say from my personal experience that having a lack of confidence is not so easy to build back up.

He does seem very honest about his lack of confidence.

It must be hard trying to build it back up ....especially on a worldwide stage like that too.

I really hope he can get himself together

Re: Ernests in Summer 2011 - The Tournament Thread

Lack of confidence might be an issue, but his game has tons of room of growth as well.

If you did watch his recent matches, you would find that he hit the balls in a very awkward position/stance, causing a lot of unforced errors. You rarely see those strange position/position in top players' matches.

According to today's news, Ana Ivanovic is seeking a coach who will help her return to the top. Ernests needs one too.
