Re: Ernests' Photos and Videos Part 2

I saw him eat something but at first I thought it was a muffin. Why would that be strategic? Silly question. Wonder who else was interviewing him! I want that footage too!

Thanks so much for the video and for the interview link!

"He doesn't care" when he is two sets down... must be the new zen of tennis.

I think that he was a bit disingenuous there. (Maybe he didn't like the interviewer?) He had to have cared because he hung tough during the third set when he was down 2 sets and a break. And when he steeled his nerves and went for his shots and chased down short balls, the "magic" happened. But he engineered that "magic" because he could.

Re: Ernests' Photos and Videos Part 2

Another key to his win yesterday is that Tommy Haas' first serve wasn't working during the last two sets, so the much slower second serve allows Ernests to return better.

Re: Ernests' Photos and Videos Part 2

I think he means that when you are that far down, you feel as though you have nothing to loose in a way. At that point, you can relax and just go for your shots. Then when things start to swing back in your favor you get pumped up and start to really push for the win.

I don't know.. Ernests is Ernests. He didn't seem to care for him much either..

I don't know.. Ernests is Ernests. He didn't seem to care for him much either..
I think that you are talking about apples and oranges here. Having nothing to lose has nothing to do with "not caring", it just means that the stakes are not high, or there are no stakes to speak of, so you can go ahead and take risks knowing that you will lose nothing much by it and therefore it would be silly not to take advantage of that situation. But the going ahead and the taking of risk, that act in and of itself, means that you care and care very much, otherwise you would just be passive, indifferent, or give up.

Ernie was by no means passive and indifferent in his match against Haas even when he was facing elimination and he gave us a blockbuster match that like Ginevra I would like to watch and watch again even though I was there in person to witness it. It was one of Ernie's best wins, no matter how much he may want to downplay it.

Re: Ernests' Photos and Videos Part 2

No matter what he meant, Ernests is Ernests! He gives unique interviews and that's one of the reasons he is so attractive. He is NOT going to give cookie cutter responses like the top players do. He has his own way of thinking and speaking that in a lot of ways, is refreshing. The thing is, Ernests may say he doesn't care but we all see through that! If he didn't, he wouldn't have worked as hard as he did to come back from two sets down!

Re: Ernests' Photos and Videos Part 2

Here's the link to some photos from today's match. I stopped taking pictures during the last two sets because I was too anxious and also feeling bad about how the match was going.
