Yeah, we pretty much gave him a tongue-lashing.

The article predicted a 9/10 "shockwave potential". Talk about the pressure of expectations.

And isn´t that just crazy? Because if we stop to think about de is just 20 years old, never make ´til a GS nor MS final, is number 51 in ATP, never won a single ATP title and does not know what is in a 3R since...I don´t know when! But a lot of people (media, tennis fan) thinks that he´ll make something big this year, in fact, right now, in AO.
Is this what they call charisma?

Thanks for the info, Di
And Ernests is #5 Come on Ernests! It would be a great opportunity to win a tournament just before Indian Wells… (but shhh, no pressure )
(he is seeded for the second time, if I'm right )

I don't think I demotivated him,I probably made me and Erno a few steps nearer to the lunatic asylum

If he did say that all he has to do is practice what he's said,no further comment needed(from me at least)

What we've all said has come from the heart(apart from the attached post)
lol In my defense I can always say it was all a joke

You have a point there! Granted, he's got the talent. It's understandable that everyone would take notice. But hey, he's also good-looking. Let's not forget, the media has its own interests. They haven't had a photogenic men's winner since Marat. Think what a field day they'd have if Ernie wins a major. For now, their "up-and-comer" storyline only goes so far but even so, he seems to be getting more hype than del Potro who is also only 20 and already in the top 10. Go figure. I hope Ernie will have the sense to not let all the hype get to his head.

And a lot of people have already dubbed him as the heir to Marat's throne.

And I do think that the media is kinda part of the whole "hyping" Ernests. He has a very attractive style of play, and the media is naturally drawn to that. And then there's his charisma off the court also.

Re: Ernests' news thread!

The first thing I thought of when I saw the draw was "Blake is wayyyy too close to Ernie's name" Could Ernests be Blake's Gabashvili? Hmm...
