I hope this will help Ernests' put some consistency back in his tennis.

NEWSSSSSS!!!!!! Some great happy news, finally!!!!!! The twitt says Hernan Gumy starts again to be Ernests's coach next Monday!!!
I really hope he enjoyed is off season but now it's time to back at work baby!!!!!!

Hernan!! Our favourite 'Team Gulbis' reunited and ready to work,work,work..in happiness and harmony, from Monday morning Hope you've had enough fun Ernests, and are ready for considerable detention in training

Most importantly I really hope there will be no disruptions to any of them, in pre-season training or next year such as the unfortunate illness and domestic problems Ernests and Hernan have had to go through in 2011.

All the best to awesome Team Gulbis especially our boy in 2012,Olympic year!

Re: Ernests' news thread!

Looks like Ernests is playing only Doha before AO and will therefore not defend his SF points in Sydney. Personally I think it sounds like a good idea especially if he gets to QF or SF in Doha then loss of 90 points will not be so painful.

Wishing good luck to our boy in the new year. If he continues his up and down trend the he should reach top 10 in 2012))

I was surprise when I didn't see him on Sydney enter list, but maybe it's because his ranking!!! I can't wait to see him playing with Hernan like his coach again, I'm sure it will be a great season, but in Doha and Australian Open could be difficult....with his ranking could meet Djokovic Nadal or Murray at first round!!!! But I can't wait for the new season!!!!!

Any news from Miami??

I just remember Ernests saying how much the humidity affected him in Sydney after his first match last season,he just got more and more tired. He probably just doesn't want to risk that happening again, humidity really does seem to affect him a lot.

Just have to see how things start for him early on,and look for anything new in his game. He'll probably be using a new model of racket,so it depends how quickly he adjusts to that too.

Have to go by the usual 'No news is good news' regards Florida. Hopefully he's working well, and having some fun too. Not much more off season work to do now the new season starts in just over 2 weeks I cant wait either

Re: Ernests' news thread!

Oh dear it isn't good that he is affected so much by humidity. May be what I've been thinking is inconsistency in his play is at least somewhat weather related

Hello Mae,nice to see you posting in here

It's sad,Ernests humidity issues go back to Beijing Olympics. Humid cities just don't help him,he had to retire from a match in Washington once as a result,he was sick after the match too. He's fine in heat,he says he can play in +40 degrees, but when high humidity adds to heat, his body often struggles to cope.

So he tries to organise his schedule to try and avoid humid cities if he possibly can I think.

Re: Ernests' news thread!

Well.. in last year he played two weeks in row, a final and a semifinal and he was too tired for the Australian Open. I wouldn't watch similar again so I'm glad he won't play in Sydney is this year.

Never ever give up

Re: Ernests' news thread!

I was just going to say that this should be the start of a new tournament thread! Tennis season is fast approaching! Can't believe it's the start of the new year already. I'm so looking forward to seeing Team Gulbis & Hernan back in the box!

Re: Ernests' news thread!

Here is some news from sportacentrs. EGulbis over on Tumblr provided us with a little English translation on some important bits for those who struggle with those horrible computer translators

When this article was written (29th December) he was already in Doha practicing. Seems that he feels good although he was a bit ill for one week during the off-season break. After Australian Open he will probably play in Zagreb, then Davis Cup in Egypt, then tourneys in the USA. One of his goals is playing in Olympic Games.

His sister Laura was training in Spain with Gabriel Urpi (Penneta’s coach). She will try playing some ITF tourneys in Spain. Andis and Deniss will play in Russia next month.

Thanks I've been watching Ernests play for some time now. But I just hadn't done a very good job of getting down here to post in his Forum I know how he feels because while I don't play tennis the combination of heat & humidity just melts me even trying to walk around! And where I live that is exactly the kind of summer weather we have
