Well done Andis It's great he managed to win such a close match.

Yeeesss. Winning final set tie-break 8-6, that should make him feel good, if a bit jaded.

Re: Riga Mortis: General Latvian tennis talk

Well Beck is the sixth seed and Andis is the qualifier, so it's a good victory indeed

A good victory indeed, Beck is not an easy opponent. I remember his USO from this year and his match against Rafa at Wimbledon. Powerfull, smart player. And a lefty.

Ernests has had more tactics coming into his game, the change up serve and volleying(rather than when he used to do it with wreckless abandon on surfaces not suited to pure s/v), drop shots, a little more slice, when he's regularly smarter on court the label ballbasher will be harder to justify

The best current example of a player with it all: how to employ tactics(along with a great return, intelligent shot selection, an ever improving serve with a good rate of economy, impressive reading of the game, timing, changes of pace, and a high level of durability - physical fitness, defensive capability, easy and natural footwork, relentless consistency of performance, most importantly, a stable mindset, is Andy Murray. I don't think there is any other player currently with as many facets to their game.

If Erno can get somewhere close to this level in the future it would be truly incredible, there is so much he can improve in the way Murray has, pure power and talent won't be enough for Erno to fully realise his potential. I'm looking forward to finding out how close he can get to that frighteningly high level.

Di, I quite agree... Tennis is such a multi-dimensional game and that's why I'm so about it. Ernie possesses all the right mechanics in his game, and then some, and that's why we see so much potential in him. One of my favorites is his shot selection- what shot he makes at what moment and at what position in the court- and I just LOVE IT that he does not always bash the ball. Although when he does..... .

He's still improving and that's what's so thrilling for me. I hope indeed that he will develop to a very high level.

Deniss I wish we could chip in for a new pair of ripped jeans as your Christmas present.

Andis drew himself another German - Alexander Waske this time. They'll play on Centre Court at 7pm local time.

Haha Now I have to mention you call Erno 'kid' or 'kiddo', Zahirah I think that's about the same thing as what Camilla does
