Off-course I don't compare by that but didn't I mention he was very close to win vs GS champions on last 2 tournaments while Ferrer isn't GS champion.
Ferrer isn't Djokovic and Cilic isn't Youzhny. Cilic is on 3:1 vs players ranked between 5th and 10th spot in this season. So, he is very close to Ferrer. Youzhny is nowhere close to Djokovic.
It's a very doubtful logic that Borna (#195) has such a great chance for R3 like you try to say while his opponent in frist round is top 30 and playing final this week while Cilic will surely loose like you said.
Youzhny was just an example, obviously. Meaning you can't reason things like this just by comparing players' rankings.
Anyway, it's pointless discussing this now, because Cilic-Ferrer could only happen in R4 and that's far away at the moment. The thing is, Marin struggles against players like Ferrer because they make him play that one extra shot that so often ends up being an unforced error. Another thing is, David is usually more vulnerable in early rounds. Once he gets himself going, later in the tournament, he's really hard to beat. Of course Marin could still beat him and it wouldn't be a huge miracle, but no doubt Ferrer will be a big favorite to win it if the match happens.
Coric-Rosol is a completely different match and thus hard to compare. Borna is an up-and-comer who undoubtedly has a much bigger potential than Rosol and will achieve more. Yes, it might still be too early, but Rosol is not unbeatable and Borna proved already he's a big match player. By the way, did you know that Rosol, being 29, never won a USO main draw match? And yes, he's about to enter top 30 and yes he'll play in Winston-Salem final today. But his ranking is mainly caused by his clay court results, and he was pretty lucky in his run this week. Harrison was forced to retire while leading against him, Andujar breadsticked him and Isner gave him a walkover. He beat Lu in a very tight match, but judging by comments Lu was the better player.
Borna beat Janowicz in five sets this year, and Rosol is a similar player. So yeah, I could definitely see him beat Rosol - and reach R3 because R2 would be an easier match than R1 for Borna.
What's important for you to understand in order to not attack me later, I am NOT saying that Borna will 100% sure beat Rosol. Of course Rosol is the favorite, and rightfully so. But I do see a decent chance for Borna in that match, and I really hope he takes it.
It's nice you finally admite.
You must be fighting some inner battles with yourself.. I've never denied it.
