Re: World Group Final: Spain at Argentina (November 21-23, 2008)

Lopez d. Del Potro 4-6 7-6(2) 7-6(4) 6-3

Lopez serving good and putting Del Potro in problems with his backhand slice...
in the 3rd set TBreak Del Potro was leading *4-3
during the 4th set. Del Potro suffered a nuisance (is ok to say this??) in one of his quadriceps

like Fiber said. probably Nalbandian will be in the court tomorrow

Re: World Group Final: Spain at Argentina (November 21-23, 2008)

From a won final for Argentina, now it seems to be way too open i believe.

In my opinion, the worst decision would be to let Nalbia play in the doubles.
Argentina has few chances for this fixture and fielding David will not change the situation that much. Lopez-Verdasco is a top pair, both are good volleyers, both serve way better than any of the 3 prospects for the Argie pair.

If the captain burns Nalbi in the doubles, there is a chance for him to be too tired for the decisive match.

Now that Emilio Sanchez is stupid enough to let Ferrer play instead of Verdasco (this is a crime deserving jail time. He either got bribed or he is the blindest captain in history of DC), JMDP or anyone else would destroy the ex N4 and Nalbi will only have to win Lopez.

Of course, if by chance the Spanich captain becomes reasonable and lets Verdasco against Del Potro, i believe the Spaniard should be favourit, especially now that Delpo looks unfit.

Any info about who will play the two singles tomorrow?

Is Delpo fit? Will Sanchez act as a retard again and select Ferrer to embarasse himself..again?

Unhappy Re: World Group Final: Spain at Argentina (November 21-23, 2008)

4th: Acasuso - Ferrer (Verdasco has some chances to play)
5th: Nalbandian - Lopez

Re: World Group Final: Spain at Argentina (November 21-23, 2008)

I like Ferrer, but right now there's 2 or 3 players (apart from Nadal and Lopez) who are better than him, so I wouldn't be too surprised if Acasuso can defeat him..

Re: World Group Final: Spain at Argentina (November 21-23, 2008)

Lopez/Verdasco d. Nalbandian/Calleri 5-7 7-5 7-6(5) 6-3

it was a 50.50 match. and it was expected to be the hardest match of the tie
the 3rd set was very decisive; Spain was leading 5-1 in games, and Nalby.Calleri surprisingly recovered (2 breaks) and forced a Tie Break.
in the Tie Break Argentina was *5-1 with Nalbandian service. but he did a DF just in the moment that a spanish woman started to shout. Nalbo was
after this Lopezin served 2 good services.
Callerin was serving *5-4. in this point Nalby missed a not so hard volley and then Calleri lost serve again. finally Verdasco closed it

ARGENTINA 1-2 SPAIN

from alexito thread: el blog de alexito (fotos de atp acapulco 2009 a partir pagina 3408) #10

u can see many argentinians players behind.
Del Potro, Acasuso, Zabaleta, best friend of DATS , Arnold, Marcaccio

the argentinian crowd singed a song that translated should be like : we have to beat this gays! A estos putos les tenemos q ganar
Verdasco told that this helped him a lot instead annoying him

Re: World Group Final: Spain at Argentina (November 21-23, 2008)

Del Potro problem changed the situation a lot
it was expected a 2-1 for Argentina if not a 3-0 but finally Feli Lopez did a great job for his country

apparently Chucho Acasuso (or Calleri maybe) will play.... vs Ferrer or Verdasco (or Granollers )
not so easy match. looking Acasuso last matches he is not in his best moment. but maybe tomorrow is his best chance for revenge from that 5th rubber vs Russia in 2006...

I suppose Nalby wont have big problems to beat Lopez in case of a 5th rubber. only bad luck, an injury or another unexpected factor will be the only chance of Nalby to lose
the only bad news is that apparently he was very today and following some rumours (maybe they are false) there were some in the locking room...
+ Nalby didnt go to press conference and the team received an aproximately 10.000 dollars fine

Is Del Potro playing or not?
Coz from your comments it is not clear. Is he injured or fed up, or is it a part of the psycho game between the coaches?
Obviously about Verdasco/Ferrer we will know in the last mins before the match but at least to know about JMDP.

Re: World Group Final: Spain at Argentina (November 21-23, 2008)

The outright odds are decreasing on Argentina. Expectations are that Del Potro will be fit to play the fourth rubber. Sanchez has confirmed that Ferrer will play so the constellations will most probably remain: Del Potro vs Ferrer and Nalbandian vs Lopez.

Acasuso vs Verdasco starting in 5 minutes
Del Potro can have a serious injury if he doesnt rest a little

First set for Verdasco 6-3 over Acasuso.

Mug match, awful bh from Chucho, and a great smash shot by Verdasco in the last game
