Germany picks Rebound Ace
Germany has chosen Rebound Ace as the indoor surface for its Davis Cup quarterfinal against Spain to be held in Bremen on April 11-13.
"We've had some good experience with this surface and that's why we decided to use it again in the match against Spain," said Germany's Davis Cup captain Patrik Kuehnen .
Germany beat Croatia on the same surface in last year's first round 3-2.
I think Germany wouldn't have had the possibility to play on grass in that short time which is available from February to April anyway. And the climate in Germany doesn't allow it. I believe they never played on grass in their entire Davis Cup history in other months than June or July.
Because it's booked almost the entire year with other events, so it's impossible to get it for one whole week for Davis Cup in the short amount of time which was available.
It wouldn't make any sense to install a system which costs thousands of Euros and which is used only 3 days...So I expect there won't be any hawkeye. Bad for Tommy
Yes, if you see from this angle, then yes. I just read an comment of Ralf Weber who said it would not have been possible in that given time. But anyways, why are we even talking about indoor grass? It would be much too slippery and maybe the cost play a bigger role than we are thinking.
I saw my tickets today for the first time. I'll be travelling with my Spanish colleague to Bremen for the entire weekend, can't wait.
Hopefully it will go to a 3rd day, Germany should have the edge in the doubles if Kohlmann and Waske are healthy.
Any news about who will play? For us in Germany that seems to be a hot topic. Some days ago it seemed we would have problems to find a second singles player besides Kohlschreiber. But now Tommy Haas is doing very well in Indian Wells. Petzschner will probably play doubles again. Boris Becker recommended Mischa Zverev...
Oh okay, if it was used it DC-ties, then it would be me who does not know anything about it! Sorry!
However, I think you're right when you say you don't expect a hawk-eye being installed in Bremen.
Oh I wonder when the final list of players will be annouced, as well for Germany, as well for Spain. I am going to DC, have a pretty good seat, but I will cheer for Spain... hopefully that's allright with all the German ppl in there.
Kas is also an option, I guess.
I'll also be there. Could have gotten first row tickets, but opted for the third row (TV View), since I don't know if there'll be anything in the way. Doesn't make that much of a difference, anyways.
Hoping for a full house and great matches.
Doesn't look that good... On Friday April 11th, there will be a full house but what about Saturday and Sunday However, the Davis Cup is No.1 in the selling charts of nordwest-ticket.de..So probably more tickets will be selled...I hope so!
Yeah, I noticed that. What's up with that? Especially Saturday where most ppl don't have to work.
Sunday is a different matter, of course, since we don't know if there'll be any live rubbers left.
