Re: 2008 Davis Cup Draw

good draw vs Argentina next year... good chance to take DavisCup

1st round vs Great Britain here.. it will be good to have Murray here... but only him or maybe the doubles can give minimal chances to his country...

2nd round vs Sweden: probably we will beat again like in 2006
2nd round vs Israel: playing in his home... looks dangerous.. it will be very good is they beat Sweden....

SF: looks more hardest. Russia here. Czech away :rolleyes. or Serbia to be determined..
I dont see Belgium with many chances.

Gustavo Marcaccio David Nalbandian Jo-Jo Tsonga Marcos Baghdatis

Re: 2008 Davis Cup Draw

What I wanna see from my team is passion. Nasty draw of course, but I want GB to turn up in Buenos Aires with belief. Not intolerable rubbish like 'it's Argentina away on clay, we're doomed, don't fancy this'. If we go down fighting I'll be happy. I assume we'll get a hostile welcome and be booed merciless, and Diego will be there

After the Wimbledon cracker, Murray v Fat Dave again would be tasty.

Re: 2008 Davis Cup Draw

Russia (s) (c) v Serbia
Belgium (s) v Czech Republic (c)
Argentina (s) (c) v Great Britain
Sweden (s) v Israel (c)(*)
Korea v Germany (s)(c)(*)
Peru (c)(*) v Spain (s)
Romania (c) v France (s)
Austria (c) v USA (s)

Russia should dispatch one-man Fakervic's team, and the Czechs will probably count on Radek and Tomas to spank the Belgians on a fast indoor surface. The Argies will most certainly defeat one-man Murray's GB team on mud and then take revenge on the Swedes, on mud again. Their luck won't last, though, if they face the flaming Czechs. The Russians will have the upper hand to take on the Argies, as they'll play at home if they defeat the Czechs.
Korea won't have much of a chance in Germany as even a B team can defeat the Koreans on clay and Peru's WG dream will be shattered by the Spaniards in the moonballing festival of the first semester. Be prepared for lack of light and suspicious acts like suspending play on key moments, but that won't happen as most matches should just finish quickly in what's going to be a major beatdown. Germany would host the tie on a fast carpet and possibly make another DC SF. Romania and France meet again and once more the French should be too strong for the Pavel-led squad, even if they do this on clay. Hanescu isn't good enough to defeat Simon, a 2nd-tier French, it's not like he's gonna defeat Simon's better ranked countrymen. Austria has a good chance of defeating the Americans, on a slow clay and hoping Melzer is fit, this result shouldn't be much in doubt. The Austrians, though, would face a major challenge beating the French away, and so the French have a great chance of making a SF appearance next year, possibly playing the Germans, this time at home.
Great chance for a DC final for the French, this time at home against the Argies or away against the Russians or Czechs. Winnable against the choker Argies, much harder against the Russians or Czechs.

I know what you mean, but Argentina is very strong playing at home.
The last defeat at home was in 1998, and since then it has been:
5-0 over Mexico
5-0 over Canada
5-0 over Belarús
5-0 over Australia
3-2 over Croatia
5-0 over Germany
5-0 over Russia
5-0 over Czech Republic
5-0 over Sweeden
5-0 over Australia

It's truth, you have to play and win the match, but the antecedents have an important weight here.
