The Battle of the Surfaces: Rafa-Roger Exhibition in Palma

At first I thought it was an April Fool's joke because the story surfaced around April 1 but now there's more and more about it in the Spanish media, and apparently the court is being constructed, so it looks like this is for real.

According to the Spanish articles, Rafa and Roger are going to play an exhibition match called "The battle of the surfaces" on May 2. The court is going to be the oddest thing - half-grass (for Roger) and half-clay (for Rafa).

I think this is hilarious and looks to be a hell of a lot of fun. Too bad I probably won't be able to see it.

That has to be a joke.

And if it weren't, they should make the court divided lengthwise to be fair - but the injury risk . I guess Fed would like to have grass on the ad side.

Re: Battle of the Surfaces: Rafa-Roger Exhibition in Palma

Fed would win, Fed on clay>Rafa on grass and also can adapt qiuicker to the different movement

but this is all bullshit if you ask me

Like I said, I thought so at first... but actually constructing the court would be taking the joke a little too far, don't you think?

We were wondering about the court on vb.com and someone came up with the idea of a striped one.

Have you been to the site yourself? I would think twice before I took a photo as evidence in the days of Photoshop et al.

Will they operate normal rules and change ends?

I think it sounds like a lot of fun...I'd LOVE to see this match.

They would have to, the guy standing on the clay side has a huge advantage.

For some reason that sounds like an injury waiting to happen.
