It's clear that he is the most secure with where his game is and used it just for practice, not to get a validation of his level.
Whenever Murray tries not to push it ends up bad for him Talentless weaponless pusher.

Yeah, Goffin would play well in exhibitions. No pressure.

Andy clearly doesn't give a shit about pointless tournaments and sees this as just a good workout before the serious tennis gets underway.

Also, Pepe - exhibition results don't count towards H2H.

If you are making such a fuss since his last loss, then maybe you are a little too invested.

I think this is great for Goffin. It breaks another mental barrier for him. Maybe it will help him believe he can win against top 10 (big 4) in matches with stakes as well

Of course this loss doesn't count LOL. This was basically just a glorified training session.

Re: Abu Dhabi SF Goffin def. Murray 7-6(4) 6-4

There are two threads for this match right now...

As for the match, it was pretty fun to watch. Goffin was playing some excellent tennis. His forehand was working well and he showed surprising mental strength, especially in the tiebreak. Hopefully he can keep this going at Doha and especially the Australian Open.

Obviously Murray wasn't playing his best tennis, but even while in exhibition mode, Murray is still better than 99% of the tour. So I think it's a good sign of things to come for Goffin. As for Murray, he still has a match against Raonic and the Doha tournament to get back to his best form so he should be ready in time for the Australian Open.

Goffin and Nadal have never played before so the final could be pretty fun.
