So is this an attempt of Djokovic to regain confidence by beating Nadal?

I'm very surprised as I thought No1e would rest and heal his body in the following weeks. Will he retire from the event? Or will 7-digit cheque be too big temptation?

Nadal did not play in India because his wrist is bothering him again.
This guy just does not learn. Why the heck go and play in freaking India some meaningless tie?

Every headline I've seen lists 'stomach upset' as the cause for Nadal not playing. I think he hopes to play a match on Sunday.

As for why he'd play in the first place, it's always good to get a relatively high pressure B05 match in when trying to get back in good form on tour especially when you haven't played a ton recently. And before someone tries to point out that beating the Indian team shouldn't be high pressure, 'pressure' in this case is obviously not from the opponent but rather from the stakes.

Lopez said it s Rafa' wrist is a problem so he will not play at all.

Funny that none of Google headlines' stories had the latest news. I had literally checked again just moments before responding.

Anyway, the point remains that DC is good for confidence. He's either on tour or he isn't and the wrist can't be too serious considering his choice to play the USO. If he's committed to the tour, then doing DC made sense in this case IMO.

Skipping this DC match is probably just team Nadal being extra careful. And the exho was surely scheduled long ago so I assume it's also not a guaranteed appearance at this point.

Davis Cup: What made Rafael Nadal miss opening match, wrist injury or stomach bug? - Firstpost

Captain Conchita Martinez confirming it to be a stomach bug rather than the wrist. You'd assume Nadal wouldn't be playing doubles if it was indeed the wrist. Seems like Lopez spoke out of turn.

Re: "Djokovic and Friends" Exhibition in Milan, Italy, Sept 21-22

To me this makes it seems like Djokovic is partially hosting the event, like he was behind organizing it.

Whatever the situation, they're paying good money to have Djokovic, Serena and Nadal in Italy with two of their own champions/players.

Djokovic // Del Potro // Paire // Thiem // M. Zverev // Youzhny
Coric // Khachanov // Donaldson // A. Zverev // Bublik
Ferrero // Rafter

Nadal does sell more tickets in general and is worldwide far more popular. The odds are that Djokovic was the first person they made the event for and later added people

<3 Roger Federer <3 David Ferrer <3 Juan Martin Del Potro <3 Stan Wawrinka <3

------------------------ <3 Richard Gasquet <3
