Holy shit, Panfil beat Seppi. Retirement or not, that's a massive upset. Wow. Did Seppi get hurt or what?

Re: Hopman Cup 2014

Apparently, Seppi has some sort of illness, I think something about a fever.

I want to like Tomic, I really do, but that performance in the 2nd set was woeful. The Tank Engine is going full-force.

I had to laugh when I heard the on-court announcer ask the crowd to "show their appreciation for the efforts of Bernard Tomic".

It's gonna be down to Canada and Czech and since bouchard has a better chance of beating Klititova than Spandex has in beating Raonic I'd go with Canada. Duh!

Oh my god, I just started watching, and Panfil is playing wonderfully. Up a set and a break.

Does anybody know if he got into AO qualies, or if he is far out?

Re: Hopman Cup 2014

He beat Seppi AND Raonic? I am I'm in bandwagon mode for now (meaning this is just a reflex from what happened), but could he get a way to get to the Australian Open (could he still be a Wildcard or a Qualifier)?

Also, Kvitova-Steps power is so strong, haha. Fun match.

Re: Hopman Cup 2014

Canada in tough to make the final.

If they win 3-0 against Italy, and Poland loses 3-0 against Australia that would do it.

But if they win 2-1 and Poland loses 3-0 they'd go to set % and it's impossible for Canad to catch them there.

If Canada wins 3-0, and Poland loses 2-1 then they can tie on set percentage if they win all their matches in straights, and Poland loses 2 matches in straights and wins 1 in 3. Then it goes to game percentage which Poland has a massive lead, Canada would need some very quick sets in the favour and against Poland.

In other words we probably need 3-0 win, and Poland 3-0 loss, almost impossible for all those things to go our way in the other scenario

Re: Hopman Cup 2014

Bernard did his job for Canada by playing well and getting his singles win.

Aga reversed her bizarre career record against Stosur however, and wins in three.

Poland advances to the final and Canada is out, IF they win at least a set in the mixed coming up.

Damn you Milos and your f%^king odious play in the mixed against the Aussies and loss to Panil in singles in the Polish tie.

Re: Hopman Cup 2014

Wow, we actually got control of the game % because of getting the same luck Poland got early in the event with a default 6-0 6-0 mixed doubles win due to a withdrawal.

Now Australia please get this done

Poland into the final with a double fault from Stosur

Did Stosur just literally gifted Poland their Finals spot?

Congrats Poland for reaching the Finals! That said, it was probably one of the most emotional/psychological pressured game Panfil probably played, ever. Good thing Radwanska held serve, because Tomic just bullies Radwanksa's returns. I hoped Australia won in 3 though as I felt they were the better team. Maybe they kinda became lax in the deciding tiebraker as they wouldn't advance either way anyway so they had a little fun towards that tiebreaker. Was rooting for Stosur in Singles for having an aggressive play, but was rooting for Poland as a team hehe. Really looking forward to the finals highly possibly against France.
