The eighth and final team for the Hyundai Hopman Cup will be determined at the fourth instalment of the Asian Hopman Cup
to be held at the National Tennis Centre Astana, Kazakhstan from 11 - 14 November, 2009
. The winning team automatically qualifies for the ITF’s International Mixed Teams Championship held annually in Perth, Western Australia in January.
Teams from Kazakhstan, China, Korea, India and Thailand
will be vying to beat two time defending Champions - Chinese Taipei
(Yen-Hsun Lu and Su-Wei Hsieh) and take their place in the Hyundai Hopman Cup field.

The player’s list of this year is stronger than last year. Kazakhstan with Golubev ranked 61 on the ATP Tour and Shvedova 50 on the WTA Tour look like the team most likely to upset the Chinese Taipei three peat. Thailand will also pose a strong threat with veterans Udomchoke (139) and Tanasugarn (111).
India’s Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna won the Inaugural Asian Hopman Cup.
The Asian Hopman Cup is a six Nation round-robin tournament consisting of 2 groups of 3 Nations with the winning team of each group playing the Final. All singles matches will be the best of three tie-break sets, with the exception of the mixed doubles, which will use the Match Tie-Break (the first team to reach 10 points) if the match is tied at 1 set all.
