Forum Moderation and User Co-operation
The moderators and administrators on this site are unpaid volunteers who give their free time to assist with the maintenance of this site.
As a result, there will be threads and posts in forums which do not get seen by any moderator - this is particularly the case in the busiest forums, General Messages and Non-Tennis.
Moderators do make an effort to check the forums for which they have responsibility, and try to keep an eye on "flashpoint" threads or threads that show potential to become inflamed.
However, there will clearly be occasions where posts and behaviour that are against site rules are not seen by anyone on the moderation team.
As such, it is the responsibility of every poster on the site to assist with the efforts to keep the behaviour on this forum within the rules.
The policy of the moderation team is one of dealing with reported posts and dealing with matters that come under their notice in the course of using the site and the various forums. It is not the policy of the moderators to attempt to read every post and every thread. As a result, accusations of inconsistent moderation are often levelled at moderation team members, but in the vast majority of these cases it is because the original infraction has not been observed by a moderator and was not reported to them either.
When you feel a post or a behaviour deserves to be brought to the staff's attention, you should report it using the
icon on the left handside of the post.
As you do so, it is immediately noted in the mod forum, and is looked at as soon as a member of the team is available to do so.
Each reported post generates a thread in the moderator forum that all moderators and administrators can see. It also generates an email to all administrators and to the relevant forum moderators.
Each thread that is generated is replied to by the person that takes action with a statement of what they did and why they did it - or if they did nothing, why they did nothing.
Every single reported post is looked at
, and action taken accordingly after, if appropriate, discussion within the team.
Everything that is reported is left to the discretion of the mods who handle the case.
It is not the policy of the site for the moderators to personally respond to the post reporter with information about how their report was handled. In some cases it will be clear to all what action was taken - in others, the users may not see any obvious outcome, because action taken against a user for their behaviour is between the user in question and the moderation team
. However, users should not mistake this lack of feedback for inaction. Every reported post is looked at.
Users can contact the moderation team in specific cases if they have queries about the actions taken in response to a reported post and the moderators will try to respond to any concerns raised. Once the final decision has been made about how to deal with a specific case, the matter will then be considered closed.
What to report?
It is every poster's reponsibility to report posts or threads that contain any content that go against the board rules.
Just as a reminder, spelling/grammar/typing mistakes might look annoying but do not fit in the category stated above. They will give extra work to the moderating team when there are more serious issues to address on the board.

Conversely, users who misuse or abuse the reporting system, reporting trivial or non-rule-violating posts, whether to harass other users or the moderation team, will be subject to the appropriate sanctions.
Please note that as the moderators and administrators are volunteers, who do this in their free time, there may be times where a reported case is not handled quickly. Users should not expect instantaneous outcomes to their reports, but the issue will be dealt with as soon as a moderator is available to do so. While users can check with moderators to see if their case has been dealt with, users who aggressively badger moderators will not be tolerated.
