Matt Reid Cheering Thread

I'm surprised he hasn't got his own cheering thread yet. There was a bit of talk about him following the Burnie challenger I think (could be confused with another player). He recently turned 19 and is now ranked at 675 but will go up after this week. He made the final of a US Futures tounament this week and plays the talented young American Alexander Domijan in the final. Good luck to him.

This is his profile from Tennis Australia -

Matt Reid played his first full season on the senior circuit in 2009 and recorded some solid results on the doubles court at Futures level, demonstrating his versatility by reaching four quarterfinals with a variety of partners. The foundation for his success was built on a solid second half of 2008, in which he made the transition from junior to senior tennis and won his first two futures titles with compatriot Dane Propoggia. Earlier in 2008 he reached the French Open junior final with German Jan-Frederik Bruncken, and the Wimbledon junior final with compatriot Bernard Tomic. Matt began playing tennis at the age of six because his family had an old asphalt tennis court in their back yard. A twin to sister, Ellen, Matt also has a younger brother, Nick, and sister, Grace. Matt began his schooling in Australia but visited the Nick Bollettieri Academy in the USA when he was 15 and was offered a scholarship. He boarded at the Academy for two years so that he could complete Year 12 via online education while training. His tennis heroes are Pat Rafter because of his modesty and sportsmanship, and Lleyton Hewitt for his on-court focus and determination. Matt’s favourite tournament is Wimbledon, the venue of his greatest moment on a tennis court to date – fighting out an epic boys’ doubles final before falling 10-12 in the final set. When not on the tennis court, Matt enjoys playing rugby union, poker and surfing. His favourite movie is Never Back Down, his favourite artists are Chris Brown and Coldplay and his favourite food is sushi. He enjoys playing tennis because he likes competing and meeting new people from all over the world. His ambition is to turn professional and since the start of 2008 he has been based in Florida with travelling coach Stan Boster.
