Early Commitments

Some players were announced today:

- Nikolay Davydenko
- Paul-Henri Mathieu (defending champion)
- Guillermo Canas
- Juan Ignacio Chela
- Igor Andreev
- Nicolas Kiefer

They're still trying to get Stanislas Wawrinka to play here, Roger Federer definitely won't play (as it's just the week after Wimbledon).

Another innovation: From 2008 on, there will be only be 28 players in the MD. The four top seeds will have bye's in Round 1.

Re: Early Commitments

Seppi always plays here.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Early Commitments

If Davydenko plays here it should be an easy 4th title for him and restore his confidence heading in the North American hardcourt season (and winning in Gstaad should see him return to #4 in the world).

BTW, Is there any word on whether Nalbandian will play any of these post Wimbledon clay court tournaments? I should think it would be a good idea to get him some matches, and hopefully confidence, going into the North American swing.
