Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

Mayer lost 3-6 6-7(2) to Söderling

The first game of Söderling was immediately one over seven or eight deuces and Mayer had three break points but couldn't convert. At the end, he was broken himself and Söderling won the 1st set.
The second set was much closer and Mayer was mostly holding serve easier than Söderling and there have been a few great points. The tiebreak was a total fuck-up by Mayer then as he made two stupid errors when he was serving and Söderling was quickly leading with two minibreaks and had no troubles holding that lead.

One very curious shot was in one of the last games in the 2nd set as Mayer faked one of his famous jump-in backhand shots, but he played it with slice as a dropshot that was unreachable for Söderling on won the game. Even Söderling had to laugh about this and imitated it in jess when going back to the bench because he may have not seen something like that before Lol, that was funny!

Overall, Mayer was perhaps a bit too defensive and passive. But it would be also wrong to say that it was a bad match. It was also a tough draw facing Söderling who plays really well indoor.

Carlos --- C'MON Lleyton!!! --- Kiwi!!! --- Jürgen --- Juan

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy
