Re: Davis Cup playoffs in September

LOL, But I wanted Australia to play Germany! (Then they'd meet here in Aus heaps sooner and it wouldn't be around 20 years between meets lol! ) But I agree, I want to see Germany do well. Also Belgium, Czech Republic, and Austria (sorry Tim!).

Bjorkman_Girl you are wrong.... AUS vs GER would be in Germany that's
why I wanted it too Anyway I hope both teams will win.

@Bjorkman_Girl
It seems I missunderstood your post.

Anyway I don't want SWE vs AUS next year again.

I thought first-round losers weren't supposed to play each other.

Re: Davis Cup playoffs in September

I'm going on a stretch here but I predict a huge upset...Thailand over Russia 3-2.
Here are the details: 1st Singles Rubber- Paradorn Srichaphan d. Nikolay Davydenko 4st
2nd Singles Rubber- Marat Safin d. Danai Udomchoke str. sets
Doubles- Andreev/Youzhny d. Ratiwatana Twins str. sets
3rd Sinles Rubber- Danai Udomchoke d. Mikhail Youzhnyin 5 sets
Last Rubber- Paradorn Srichaphan d. Marat Safin in 5 grueling sets

Re: Davis Cup playoffs in September

Hey again loner, that would only be true if they played on carpet, instead of on clay. If it was clay, I know for a fact that Thailand will be swept.

So, if it was on carpet, and if Thailand did win, I believe that Paradorn will win both his singles, and the twins will win the doubles.

Russia does not really have a standout doubles team.

Re: Davis Cup playoffs in September

Guess what, I just checked the Davis cup website and Russia will be hosting Thailand in an indoor clay facility in Moscow. Doesn't look like Thailand will be able to break through to the world group next year. Safin, Youhzhny, and Davydenko can all dirtball it up.
