Arrow Argentina vs Russia. Coming up!

This will be very different scenario than last year in Moscow where Argentina was defeated 3-2 in carpet indoors.

This year in April, Buenos Aires in clay will be a very tough tie for the russians players.

It is revenge time!

LEGION ARGENTINA

DAVID NALBANDIAN - GUILLERMO CAÑAS
JUAN IGNACIO CHELA - GUILLERMO CORIA
GASTON GAUDIO - JUAN MARTIN DEL POTRO
JOSE ACASUSO - AGUSTIN CALLERI
MARIANO ZABALETA - MARTIN GARCIA
DIEGO HARTFIELD - JUAN MONACO
JUAN PABLO GUZMAN - CARLOS BERLOCQ
SERGIO ROITMAN - MARTIN VASALLO ARGUELLO

If everybody is healthy, this could be the best tie of the quarterfinals.

Although Argentina is obviously with the upperhand, since it's their home tie and their chosen surface, it's hard to overlook that a hot Safin can beat anybody, anywhere.

Indeed, this looks like it could come down to the doubles, which would be the most exciting senario. I suspect that David-Lucas are the planned pair, or they would not continue to be playing doubles in tournaments, soley with each other. Especially seeing as Lucas as dropped his former partner, Etis (sp?), in order to play with David.

As for singles, I have to think that Gaudio is a given, but the other slot is slightly wide open I think. I believe that they will play somebody else (Coria, perhaps?) on day one, and then maybe play David day three, depending on how many times he gets bagelled by Zabaleta over the next month, that is

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

If I'm not mistaken, Canas will not be ready to play in that tie, which is why I didn't consider him in my previous post.

I would think that Coria will be picked over Chela, so that gives us David, Lucas, Coria, and....? Maybe if Zabaleta stays hot, he'll get a nod?

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

Unless of course, they could just pick Chela, which might be the more likely senario. But you have to look fondly on the week that Mariano is having, and wonder what they will do if he keeps playing like that.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

Well I'm not even sure they would play Zabaleta, it was merely a suggestion - seeing as he has been playing so well, they should at least consider him, IMO.

Regardless, Marat beating MZ would be but ONE point, and Russia needs three.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.
