Yay James! He's really stepped up since Andy's not playing.

Easy match for James!

I'm dissapointed in Mardy, Ivan was just to good for him.

Go USA!

See you next year Maraty!

Go USA! Keep them stars and stripes waving!

Where did the Americans say they would win 5-0?

Are you sure that they didn't say they would LIKE to win 5-0?

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

If the USA does pull this one out (I'm betting on Croatia with about 55% confidence, but that's besides the point), do you suppose that Pat will seek advice from Johnny Mac on how to beat the Spaniards in Spain?

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

It was a brief interview on Croatian tv. Yes, I'm SURE. When asked what his prognosis for this tie was, Mardy Fish said "5-0 for USA" with an arrogant sneer on his face, turned around, and walked away from the reporter. I swear to God, I'm not making this up. PMac said the same thing in his interview.

While James Blake said that while he always comes into a tie believing they will win, we'll see what happens. Now THAT's how you answer a question like that. Not even a hint of a 5-0 wipeout, or the attitude of "we'll wipe the court with your asses 'cause we're the almighty Americans". I love James. He really is ultra classy. He applauded several of Mario's shots during the match.

Yes James is fabulous. James is also a might bit better educated than Mardy (and Pat?), I might add. Those years at Harvard certaintly aren't hurting him

And I wouldn't worry about Mardy too much - seeing as he was made to eat his words by Ivan, that's enough.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

I really hope that James can get himself into the top 15 this year, and keep up the good Davis Cup results - he might not be having as much success as Roddick is, but he's a far better spokesman for the sport IMO.

That said, I think that he is a better spokesman for the sport over most players - I only mentioned Roddick seeing as they are compatriots and all.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

I don't worry about Mardy, I just can't stand him. Anyone who can threaten an umpire and say "I'm gonna get you later" (paraphrasing because I forgot his exact wording) has lost ALL my respect, and a lack of education is not an excuse for being a bully.

What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?

I couldn't agree with you more. I hope he makes it into top 15 as well. He certainly has the game for it. If he plays like he did yesterday, Ivan will have to play the match of his life to beat him.

Well I wouldn't say Mardy has a lack of education - just when compared to Blake I'm pretty sure that Mardy finished highschool.

He's just inexperienced and his brattiness showed that day - he'll grow out of it eventually.

But that doesn't mean you have to like him

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.
