Last year there were 35 Futures scheduled and they canceled only one (F31 - week of 12/1/08). The Futures were played on 35 consecutive weeks starting on Apr 21 and ending on Dec 29.

Are we expecting the same quantity of Brazilian tournaments this year?
yes, it's been noticed before (see bottom of post):
2009 Futures Overview

This year we will have less tournaments in Brazil.

Here you can see a not updated schedule for Brazilian futures in 2009, some tournaments are confirmed:

as of now, these Brazilian tournaments are confirmed (Brazilian futures start from May 18th:

You can see that Brazil F4 is confirmed, even though it was cancelled before.

according to the Brazilian tennis federation president, Jorge Lacerda Rosa, Brazil might keep 6 Challengers like last year but the futures events will be only 28 to 30 (last year were 36).
