GAMBILL ARRIVES AT ADELAIDE

Last week winner, American Jan Michael Gambill will play in this week at Adelaide. He will become the first seed because he is the new number one.
"I'm so glad because of that. That was my dream. I always wanted to be world number one. The last week was one of the most beautiful week of my life. I played very much but was worth it. I won a tournament and I believe it that I have a chance to win the Australian Open."

Gambill won't play in the first round, he has a bye. In the second round he will play against Nicolas Massu or Andy Roddick.

"I think I have a good draw, I want to reach in the semifinal, at least. Thanks for the interview, good bye."

SARETTA IS READY TO ADELAIDE

September 2, Adelaide - After missing Medibank International due other commitments, Flavio Saretta arrived yesterday in Adelaide and has a practice session with #2 in the World's Ranking, Fernando Meligeni this afternoon.

Even though he will face the 8th seed in the ranking, Saretta said in a interview to a local radio: "I think I can win it, I did well last week. Nieminem is a great player but I believe in my skills." He read the interview Meligeni gave and was glad his friend mentioned himself on it.

If you want see two great players playing tennis for free, watch Saretta and Meligeni playing next to Sydney Opera House today at 3PM (Sydney Time).

Third Seed Looks to Build on Recent Success Down Under

New world number three J.I. Chela has enjoyed a new found form in the preceding Australian Open warm-up events as he enters this week's tournament in Adelaide. However, if he wishes to proceed further than the second round, he may have to take down a familiar nemesis, hometown hero Lleyton Hewitt. When faced with the prospect of once again facing Hewitt, with whom Chela has had a rocky at best past, he gave these words.

"Yeah, I mean, eveyone knows there's been some bad feelings between us, especially down here in front of his fans, but I think it's mainly behind us. I'd say we've both matured the past couple of years, no? You know, I feel I've settled down a bit, and he seems to be happy with his family so I don't think it will be much of an issue. I don't think we'll ever be best mates, as he would say, but I'm sure we'll both just go out there wanting to win, if he gets by his first round match."

Chela is in the top portion of the draw, meaning if he were to reach the semifinals and the seeds play out, he could have a meeting with world number one, J-M Gambill.
