Re: S1 Week 1 - Heineken Open - Auckland (IS)

Jonas defeated Joachim Johansson in three tight sets today.
It came down to a third-set tiebreaker that went to 10-8 in favor of the Swede.
"I was lucky today! It could've gone either way at one set all, six games all, eight points all!" he confessed to the local newspapers.
"I look forward to my next match, I feel confident I can make a dent in this competition."
He is looking to win the first tournament of the season down in Auckland.

Re: S1 Week 1 - Heineken Open - Auckland (IS)

Meligeni's practicing didn't finished: fans were so excited!

Fernando Meligeni's fame in Auckland made his training session shorter. After 1 hour hitting balls with his coach Ricardo Acioly, a big crowd started to look for pictures and signatures of him. Being a charimastic player costed him today

Probably tomorrow he'll face Swede Jonas Bjorkman, which can be considerated the favourite due to the surface.

VAMOS FINO!

Re: S1 Week 1 - Heineken Open - Auckland (IS)

Tim Henman is ready to play in Auckland after having practiced with his coach today and later answered questions to the media.

What do you expect from tomorrow's match against Stefan Edberg?

Well, I don't expect long rallies . I practised a lot of returns today, I think I'll need a good return game tomorrow...

How was your trip to Auckland?

It was quite a long trip, but nowadays with all the comfort of the airlines etc. it has become much better. I can't see why some players still come by ship, if you have such great possibilities

What will you do tomorrow before your match?

I will hit some balls with Fernando Meligeni, he's a good friend. (I hope to meet him in Semis and then beat him ) Then I'll have something to eat and wait for my match.

Thanks for your questions and wish me luck for tomorrow
