CET is UTC +1, right? I think it was CEST(UTC +2) 10:47, not CET.

Unfortunately Europe is in CEST now ... so it's GMT +2

Partially my fault since I couldn't post the OoP . Sorry.

I've always thought that CET changes from GMT+1 in winter to GMT+2 in summer. People don't use the term CEST often because the S could mean either Summer or Standard (which is not the same). So... I guess CET is just the current time zone that most of Europe live in

Sorry for your confusion though

Re: Tennis Tipping #16c - Rome - Draws posted!

Actually CET is exactly UTC +1 according to the official definition. Some European countries use CEST(UTC +2) in summer. See the wiki page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_European_Time
As a result, I've always remembered that CET is 7 hours behind my time zone.

If CET has a special meaning (the time used in most of Europe, which has 1 hour difference in summer and winter) here, it is better to use UTC (which keeps the same for the whole year) instead of CET for deadlines to avoid any confusion because people out of Europe usually don't know the exact switching date for CET and CEST in Europe. I recommend it be written in TT rules so that any TT event would avoid using confusing "CET".

Tennis Tipping:
Singles: 145 W: Johannesburg CH 10
Doubles: 119 W: Burnie CH 10 (w/Baghdatis#1), Johannesburg CH 10 (w/Broseghini), Ramat Hasharon CH 10 (w/Broseghini), Lugano CH 10 (w/Broseghini), Monza CH 11 (w/scoobs)

If you want to seriously recommend it you should write in the managers thread or in the rules thread. I don't support using UTC as the standard time zone because historically the CET (or CEST) has been used most often, people have become accustomed to it and it's more convenient for most people.

I've already written this in the rule thread. If CET is kept, I think it is better to make it mean UTC +1 for the whole year and managers should use CEST if they mean UTC +2. It is not a good idea to change the meaning of CET between summer and winter. I'm not sure how many new players know the actual CET's meaning in TT. I just started to play TT. When I first saw CET in the deadline, I didn't know the its exact time. I googled it and was told that CET is UTC +1. So I always remember that CET is 7 hours behind my time zone. And today I encountered this problem and I googled the summer time in Europe and was told CEST(UTC +2) is used in Europe in summer. Maybe new non-European players like me don't know CET is equivalent to CEST in summer in TT because CET is always UTC +1 officially. So it's better to use CET only for UTC +1 and use CEST for UTC +2.
The OOP was posted by ibreak4coffee. Maybe he was also confused with CET. It's probably that he thought Rome always uses CET time so he takes the official OOP time (local 10am) as the CET time but he wasn't aware that Rome uses CEST in summer. CET/CEST is really confusing.

Rome is six hours ahead of my time on East Coast time right now, as it usually always is. If there is some change, its on your end.

Someone else please post the OOP tomorrow...

Haha it's ok it wasn't your fault.
Both Rome and Canada are 1 hour ahead than they are in winter, hence it's still 6 hours ahead for you.
