Cipolla lost in the 3rd set tie-break.. which is very sad. Great news for Fognini and Lorenzi though. Fognini gets Almagro... thats a good match in prospect.

Re: Italian Tennis

Di Mauro lost to Gicquel easily... looks like Di Mauro's time in the top 100 is now over.

Lorenzi beat Galvani today in a 3rd set tie-break.. a Galvani win would have been nice to confirm the top 100 spot, but Lorenzi is coming on a bit and playing better this year.

Re: Italian Tennis

Some good stuff in San Remo

Fognini def. Galimberti 62 61

NASO def. Di Mauro 60 16 76

Naso has shrnk to 600 in the world so he really needs this week to be good. Hes gone from 300 to 600 really this year, but now he has done well this week qualifying and beating Di Mauro for round 2.

Fognini beat Galimberti very easily. Forza Fabio

Naso got absolutely crushed today by Aldi 61 60. Aldi who was on the verge of top 100 2 years ago slipped away, but he is in good form again recently.

Well sometimes you have to go 1 step down to go back up again... He has done much better this week and its just unfortunate he got crushed by Aldi because he won 4 matches to get to that stage (3 in quali plus beating Di Mauro)... his ranking only goes up to 570... hopefully soon he can get back to top 500 and start from there... this week should at least give him some confidence. Di Mauro is not easy to beat and obviously that match tired him, but he should get some confidence for the future events and any challengers he play.

They did have the same coach in the last 5 years(Leonardo Caperchi), but nowadays both changed. Naso is trained by Fabio Rizzo, also coach of aldi and di mauro. Fognini don't have any coach at the moment, his father travel around with him and they are serching a spanish coach.

Re: Italian Tennis

Keeping track of Naso... he defeated Arnalboldi in round 1 of Parma Future yesterday 76 62. Unfortunately his next opponent is likely to be Aldi again (or if not then Torressi.

Re: Italian Tennis

It may be so, however Aldi right now is showing to be playing very well, but its a long road from 350 to 50... he needs to win quite a few challengers right now if he has such an aim.

Re: Italian Tennis

Naso def. Ianni in Lugano second turn qualification. Good result for Naso against Ianni who reaches the top 300 for the first time this week. Naso against Da Col in final round, 2 Italians, but I prefer Naso to win.

Jorquera qualified for Bytom winning 26 76 76. Congrats Manuel.
