Di Mauro first one down

First one to be caught on the match fixing allegations. Out for 9 months and fined 60,000 dollars.

Sadly this is the first of many I feel and I can only think there will be more Italians... in particular Volandri has had many matches investigated.

Juan Martin Del Potro

Re: Di Mauro first one down

Yes...but couldn't he just bet large amounts of money on his own matches, for his opponent to win, and then purposely lose? So it can turn out to be match-fixing after all...

Re: Di Mauro first one down

Indeed I read an article on a betting page today saying how harsh the punishment is and that Di Mauro is simply a scapegoat. It is very true. Di Mauro on average has earned just £25,000 per year in his professional tennis life... so like any other normal person who makes that much money normally likes a bet or two. It says he never even bet on an event in his own tournament let alone his own matches. I think it is a very harsh punishment.
