... about the whole fixing rumors ...
I think it's major BS !!!
Anyone who's been supporting Zhenya for a while knows that he's capable of everything on the court, good or bad... he has moments where he plays so great you just wonder why he's only merely a top 50, and moments where his game is simply craptastic !!!
He has gained a lot in regularity over the past 5 months, but still sometimes he'll just be out of it, and lose to God knows who... that's in his head, not in his bank account !
The fixing rumors come from the gamblers, they don't care about the sport, they only think statistics, they don't even acknowledge that those guys on the court are humans and therefore not as predictable as they would like them to be so they could make more money on their bets !
When Zhenya loses to Marchenko in Moscow, they think fix !
Truth is the guy just beated his 'about to retire' idole the day before, in their hometown, he's making tennis History, and is about to make it even bigger because he's destroying Marchenko in the first set ... for a second he thinks about all that, things are coming way too easy, and he loses it... Marchenko sees an opportunity, he has nothing to lose, so he takes it... Zhenya struggles, get frustrated, plus he's tired because he's also playing doubles, and he just can't come back ...
Tennis players have brain, and feelings, and emotions, and gamblers don't take that into account when they bet because it's impossible to quantify and put into a statistic number... so sometimes they're supprised by a result like that and they call it fix ... when really it's called "sport" !!
... and Zhenya's russian so obviously he's a fixer, as they all are ...
