i just came back from RG today ... was at Zhenya's practice and match ... he did really well !
he defeated Bachinger 6/0 6/4 ... consistent, precise, powerful...
except the fact he was leading 3/1 in the second set and then lost a bit of concentration, started to get annoyed, grumbling, and obviously offered a few easy games to his opponent... but he managed to hold on ... well done then !

Can't wait for the draw!! Hope he doesn't draw one of my other babies: Rafa, Richie, Ancic.... would like to see him battle against his generation though: Cilic, Gulbis, del Potro

next round of qualies he plays De Chaunac, i probably won't be there (i have presentations i can't miss) i'm so so sad and stressed, playing a french guy in RG, even in qualies is really tough when u have no one else than ur crew to cheer for u... the whole crowd is gonna support LOUDLY De Chaunac...

he should reach the MD though, he is totally able to beat De Chaunac, and his possible next opponent... so just like u i hope he doesn't draw one of my other desperate cases !

The French crowd canl be bad, but de Chaunac is beatable I think, and playing against the crowd as well as the player, is something all players have to get used to! I'm sure he will be fine Will try and follow the scoreboard from work as much as I can - and I am going to Paris on Saturday - so he had better qualify

He won his match in 3. He was up 4-0 and had a break point but ended up winning in 6-4.

RG's organisation is ununderstandable ... i missed the match !! i thought he would play tomorrow, so i didn't go although i had the day off !! ... shit !!

anyway i was moraly supporting via the scoreboard ... i'm glad he won, but he could have cut it in two sets... i won't try to guess what happened... i'm kinda unsure what to think of the score ! lol

Poor Zhenya. He lost today in qualifying to Jean-Rene Lisnard. The score was 7-5, 4-6, 6-8........... how close and heartbreaking I hope there is some chance he might get in as a Lucky Loser. Zhenya

I thought after he made the comeback in the 2nd set (he was down 4-0 and got back to 4-4) I thought he might pull it off but it was not so.

I know this isn't a good thing But Kiefer might pull out and Jo Tsonga withdrew from his match today so Zhenya MIGHT get in!!

Re: Get your flags, banners and pom poms ready!!! (The Cheering Thread)

He is really getting f'ed over here. There have been so many withdrawals that Evgeny, as one of the highest seeds who lost in R 3 of qualifications, should get in as a LL. But the new rule states that all the final round losers get placed into a pool and drawn into the MD. So he has the same chance to get in as a non-seed. So unfare.

Re: Get your flags, banners and pom poms ready!!! (The Cheering Thread)

it doesn't really matter now, i think he left already, i saw him yesterday in the beginning of the afternoon, and asked about the possibility of him being LL, he said he didn't think it will happen... and that he will leave soon...

About the match, he was really tired in the last set, hard muscles and so on... plus, Lisnard being pissed off by some litigeous point raised up his level, and Zhenya started to have trouble with his first serve... all in all, it was close, but he lost... a bit unfair considering Lisnard's attitude towards the empire... he was lucky not to get a second warning... it would have changed a lot of things i think...

anyway, Zhenya has moved on quickly, he was doing fine yesterday !
