Let me make some prediction - this 17 y.o. guy will be in top20 in 2-3 years
This year Jenya won 3 futures - 2 on claycourts and 1 on indoor hard.
Also he was in 1/4 in Freudenstadt and tomorrow will play with Sluiter in 1/4 in Kolding.
This year record is 52-25.
Now he is No. 253 in the world and No. 8 in Russia.
There is a small interview with Dima at sovsport.ru.
To summarize: no one knows what will the schedule be;
- Kolya is the best on clay, but he's tired now.
- Also nothing is certain with Marat (it depends on his physical condition).
- If Kolya and Marat don't play, then it'll be Dima and Misha.
- Worst case it'll be with Korolev, who has the lowest rating, but during practice is the best. Dima says that Korolev could beat any American.
Question. Your playing Andy Roddick in the 1st match, that will be a great match, alot of big hitting. How is that gonna be won and lost??
Marat. Well last couple of times i've lost to him , he's quite a difficult player and he's full of confidence because he reached the final of the US Open and playing pretty well. The only hope is that the court will be to slow for him, alot of the bounces, clay is not his best surface even though he been winning a couple of tournaments on clay in the States which is houston - done some good results there - every year he goes there but he will not like it here and will be under pressure by our crowd - he will not serve very hard and i will be all over the court!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats to young Evegueni for making the ATP Tour's top 100 singles ranking.
By the way, I think Korolev's cousin Anna Kournikova who was an Adidas icon in her playing days should use her pull with Adidas to help get Evgueni a sponsorship contract with Adidas.
