Re: FITD 2014 Manager Thread | Where managers meet...

Not sure if Bryan is around to manage Bogota; He didn't send picks yesterday for tennis tipping. Should I start a thread for it even though I definitely won't be able to manage in case Bryan isn't available?

Make the thread. Whoever can will end up managing.

In a pinch I can also run a tourney if needbe. Someone would just have to send me the spreadsheet thing.

FITD (#1/#2)
2012: Cincinnati
2013: Zagreb, Shanghai
2014: Eastbourne, Wimbledon, Atlanta, Gstaad, Paris

Here's the live update google docs spreadsheet for Bogota ... if anyone needs it. Its self updating - I've tried to make it so I don't have to work much to update - all you need to do is just put the winners as the matches finish.

If someone needs edit rights to make the changes - send me your gmail address and I'll add you to being an editor :

Yo que querría poder contarte que ahí afuera está la vida y solo hay gente que quisiera comprenderte, y abrazarte, y alegrarte y ayudarte siempre.

Pero no, duerme que ahí afuera solo hay monstruos, solo hay gente que te compra y que te vende, que te odia, que te miente, que te roba, que te mata, que te viola y que no siente nada.

This is amazing!

Is this easy to do? Because if so, FITD can become the first (pretty much) manager-less game on the forum!

Re: FITD 2014 Manager Thread | Where managers meet...

Still takes about 10-15 minutes to copy/set-up and a few minutes to correct the errors. Errors on the Board and "Bautista Agut" vs "Bautista-Agut" vs "Bautista" vs "Agut" takes the most manual time

Not in the manager-free zone yet. If I get enough time over the next month or so, might be able to improve it and get there. Will keep you guys posted as I experiment. It would make it a whole lot easier if players entered directly into the spreadsheet (and it would highlight the errors), but then it would lose the fun of posting it on the board.

I don't get that, personally

Thanks so much for your work. You would be a legend if you can get this completely automatic. I have no idea how you do it, but best of luck!

Re: FITD 2014 Manager Thread | Where managers meet...

Okay, I managed to put together a FITD Extractor. (I am lazy - so the more I can automate - the better )

All it needs is the Thread ID, and give it about 10 seconds and it will extract all the FITD Entries automatically from the thread. Try it out and let me know if it works....

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...7fG3p4F5JUZ9qY

Few Caveats : There still will be spelling and the occasional formatting errors that would manually need to be corrected for now. And if someone corrects the entry by first quoting the original entry, it doesn't extract that entry properly. You will also have to give the starting post # for it to filter through the opening messages. Tested it on a 8-9 FITD threads, seems to be generally okay but I am sure there will be a lot more issues.

Hope it helps...

Re: FITD 2014 Manager Thread | Where managers meet...

I've been managing Toronto with bhamism's auto-extractor(he has given me permission for editing). I believe that soon, we can start using it for all FITDs full time. It is very simple to use and will save managers a LOT of time. Further, it reduces the chances of errors greatly because of the several features he has added(like auto-highlighting the non-matching entries, so spelling errors are easy to spot).

Great work by him
