FITD Davis Cup?

They have a Fed Cup version on TF. Are we going to have one too?

Marcos Baghdatis Forever!

Through the good and the bad, always my #1, no matter what the rankings say

Re: FITD Davis Cup?

Maybe we could arrange something Baghdatis#1? So that people can form teams!

Re: FITD Davis Cup?

The way it works is that you pick the individual match winners in each tie, and the result of each tie. Example:
USA vs. Serbia:
Troicki d. Isner 3-2
Djokovic d. Querrey 3-0
Bryan/Bryan d. Djokovic/Zimonjic 3-1
Djokovic d. Isner 3-1
Querrey d. Troicki 3-0
Serbia d. USA 3-2

...

Then, the scores are calculated by country. If one person is competing for their country, their score counts for their country. If there are multiple people per country, then the average score counts.

You could better say USA doubles d. SRB doubles because of the late changes made in DC.

Other than that it sounds good!

Re: FITD Davis Cup?

I think it sounds as a great idea. But I'd like to hear more suggestions of the calculations before I decide what I think.

Re: FITD Davis Cup?

Country pick must have points larger than that of player pick.
For example .. each correct player pick = 25 & each correct country pick = 100

In USA vs. Serbia match, If Baghdatis#1 picks were correct they will win 225 points, while if Isner d. Troicki, for example, they will win 100 points only as they will lose the Troicki/Isner points & the country pick points.

Re: FITD Davis Cup?

Also I think that each round should be considered as a separate tournament, so players may write their picks before each round.

After the final, all points of all players in all rounds are counted and one player will be the winner of Davis Cup FITD.

I think the ranking points should be similar to that of WTF, so the winner takes 1500 points and so on.

Decision must be rapid as it will start on 5 March.

I'm ready to run the first round.

Re: FITD Davis Cup?

200 points for each correct country win (Russia def. China).

150 for the tie score (5-0, 4-1 or 3-2).
75 points will be awarded for each correct Round Robin winner (including doubles).

That is how TF does it, let's do it that way too. But Hazem, having teams is much more fun, that's why it's Davis Cup!
