Re: Fill-in-the-draw 2008 - New season, some changes, new managers wanted!
Just had a general question/proposal to throw out there. I know these things can be a pain to run sometimes, but I feel like something can be done about the late withdrawals in these tournaments. For example, Robredo withdrawing for Vienna on the second day of the tournament. Obviously it is unfortunate for those who have selected him to go far. I also understand that part of the risk of picking any player to do well is that said player might get injured.
I have done some FITD with some friends away from this website, and we agreed that if a player withdrew once the tournament had started, a person could not change his or her bracket, but that the LL took the place of the player who had retired.
In the Robredo example, Giraldo is the LL. I had Robredo advancing to the semi-final. In our system, I now have Giraldo to the semifinal. I feel this allows players not be harmed by unforeseen withdraws, without giving them the advantage of changing their brackets. Any thoughts?
