Re: Germany vs. Belgium

I think the secound player for Germany will be Florian Mayer. He a good clay court player. I dont know how Benny Becker plays on clay but i guess he is much better on hard courts.

Does anyboddy know, where in Belgium the tie takes place? Alex Waske said on his homepage that maybe it would be in Ostende.

There are three cities who are candidate in hosting the davis cup tie. Oostende (west of Flanders, coast), Antwerp (middle, north) or Hasselt (East). Today there were some articles in the newspapers in which they say Antwerp has the most chance of being selected.

And then it will be here http://www.lottoarena.be/

Xavier Malisse & Kristof Vliegen & Olivier Rochus

Steve Darcis - Dick Norman - Christophe Rochus

Desein - Bemelmans - Masson - Mertens - Authom - Wauters

I hope that Waske and Kohlmann will be nominated again. they such a good double team, their win against ljubicic/ancic was so awesome and it´s such a pleasure to watch them play.

Re: Germany vs. Belgium

You should change the thread title, doesn't make a sense to write Germany on the left side.

Normally the host country is on the left side.

Re: Belgium vs. Germany

I think carpet and clay are options.

On carpet, Rochus and Vliegen might have the best chances against Kohlschreiber and Mayer and that would make Becker an option again, who would struggle against Rochus/Vliegen imo. On hardcourt and clay I would play with Kohlschreiber, if he gets his wins in the upcoming tournaments of course.

Re: Belgium vs. Germany

Waske and Kohlmann should be the chosen doubles team - they have had some success on tour.

Robin Bo Carl Söderling

Re: Belgium vs. Germany

The coaches have announced their teams:

The Belgian squad exists of:

- Olivier Rochus (ATP 36, doubles 57)
- Kristof Vliegen (ATP 49, doubles 51)
- Dick Norman (ATP 117)
- Christophe Rochus (ATP 129)

and the German one of:

- Tommy Haas (ATP 9)
- Florian Mayer (ATP 45)
- Philipp Kohlschreiber (ATP 59)
- Alexander Waske (ATP 131, doubles 18)
- Michael Kohlmann (ATP 1013, doubles 28)

The facts it's being played in Belgium, IMO will make it a tough tie for both of the teams... Now hopefully Belgium can pull this off

Xavier Malisse & Kristof Vliegen & Olivier Rochus

Steve Darcis - Dick Norman - Christophe Rochus

Desein - Bemelmans - Masson - Mertens - Authom - Wauters
