Re: Germany vs Croatia

Clay was not really an option if you ask me. I don't see any German player defeating Ancic on clay and Ljubo's last RG was not bad...

in the optimum case Haas could win both his matches and we will take the doubles, but that's rather illusion

however, as I don't like Haas that much, I will cheer for Croatia anyway, as long as there will not be Greul and Becker playing

He was, you can check the news archive on his website (11/2004).

HC is the best surface for Haas and Kiefer to beat Ancic and the best surface for Haas to beat Ljubicic. Grass would be only the best surface for Kiefer to beat Ljubicic.

Re: Germany vs Croatia

I still hope that Waske won't be able to play, so that there would be a chance for Petzschner to get nominated. The best would be Haas, Kiefer, Kas, Petzschner. A third singles player isn't necessary, because Kohlschreiber, Becker etc would lose anyway, while Kas/Petzschner could upset Ancic/Ljubicic and Haas wouldn't be needed for doubles.

Re: Germany vs Croatia

Ancic/Ljubicic beat Bryan bros, so I think Kas/Petzschner have not much chances to beat them.
It will still be the beginning of season, surprises are possible, but I think it's not going to happen.
Ljubicic can beat both Kiefer and Haas, and Ancic can beat at least one of them. I'll be happy with 3-2 victory.
We'll know who was right in 2 months.

Re: Germany vs Croatia

Germany would have better chances if they chose grass as surface for this tie! But everything is possible in DC! Go Croatia!

Re: Germany vs Croatia

A slow hard surface like Rebound Ace was a good choice, it's a surface where Haas and Kiefer feel very comfortable on. I still think the Croats are slight favourites though.

yeah whatever, we beated the Germans last year in Dusseldorf, we are better because Germany doesn't have decent tennis players, the time of Becker is over, wake up dude and you will see that i'm right!

Re: Germany vs Croatia

Do you seriously think that Ljubicic and Ancic are more talented than Kiefer and Haas?

yes, Ancic is only 22 and is already a top 10 player in a sport that everyone plays!
