I've been a fan of Sam and followed his progress for quite a while now, and I thought that he deserved his own thread. Last he year he came through a tough draw to win the title at the Bronx Challenger. This season he successfully qualified for the Aussie Open, beating the Ukrainian Dogpolov 14-12 in the 3rd set in his extraordinary final round qualifying match. In his maiden appearance in the main draw of a grand slam, he beat Brzezicki to reach the 2nd round. He also came through the qualifying draw at San Jose.
He is currently participating in the qualifying draw at Key Biscayne. He has just beaten 'El Polaco' Brzezicki 7-6(1) 6-3, in a re-match of their 5 set tussie at Melbourne. In order to reach the main draw, he will have to beat Guccione, which will be a very tough task for him.

Sam dropped like 30 places in the last couple weeks as some significant Challenger points came off. That being said, he has almost ZERO points to defend for the rest of the year. Hopefully he plays really well this fall and gets close to the top 100 :)

Awesome, a thread for Sam. Hes from where I'm from, and having talked to him a few times at the WTT matches, he seems like a great guy. Pity to see him lose in the first round this week. Hope he can qualify for Indian Wells thought!

OK, the draw has been released, and in my opinion, Sam got a great one.

He faces Scoville Jenkins in the first round, and if he were to win that, he shall face the winner of Kevin Kim and Vladimir Obradovic.

Cmon Sam!
