Does he need a new coach? No offense to Gilbert. Maybe he's a great coach, and Mary Carillo
can boast about her coaching suggestion. I dunno.
For him to be a better player, he needs someone
who's strict enough to make him make tactical changes against
certain opponents and to plan before events wisely.
AR may be eager to win, but he has a "whatever happens, I'm still satisfied" attitude.
He won't let losses bother him enough
to do new things (after reviewing his matches).
Last year was joyful, but
since July, I've seen him serve faster, which prevents him from attacking the net.
Standing far back, hitting the same pace & running around to hit the forehand can't be enough on carpet, grass and clay.
He doesn't practice footwork (needs to run/slide on his toes more).
Too bad he's not moonballing, junk balling, and underhand serving!
He needs to feel
urgency everytime he plays each event.
It's good to play in Europe/South America even though
he loves Memphis/Houston. It makes him a tougher player to challenge
himself, especially in tough conditions.
This year, some players in small U. S. events are playing better than those in small foreign events, but the U. S. events don't give enough points.
