Re: Robby Ginepri

After seeing him play live, I've changed my mind about Robby. He be OK with me.

Robby Ginepri has added bulk to his frame and tennis game in the last year. The Georgia native has matured into a dangerous opponent. In July, he collected his first ATP title, popping hard serves and putting away soft volleys at the Hall of Fame Championships. Ginepri, whose forehand ranks on the unorthodox side, started 2003 by winning the Waikoloa Challenger, a stepping stone for fellow American Andy Roddick a few years back. Since then, he's reached the quarterfinals at Indian Wells and Memphis in addition to winning the Newport tournament. This photo of Robby Ginepri was taken at the 2003 Tennis Hall of Fame Championships.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

Re: Robby Ginepri

me too tangy... he showed a lot more personality live in person than on TV. Still find him a bit boring but I like him much more.

Re: Robby Ginepri

hey tangy, Robby's a masochist too!!!

1ST SET

Robby,

What would be your ideal tennis match — which surface, tournament and opponent? Is there a current player on the tour that you haven't had a chance to play against but would love to?

Dayna Avery, Waco, Texas

Return

My ideal match would be playing Andy Roddick in the finals of the U.S. Open. I really like the surface at the Open and feel that it suits my game well. I grew up playing on hard courts so it feels natural. I enjoy the excitement and atmosphere that a tournament in New York offers and that seems to add energy to each match. As for playing against Andy, we've been friends and rivals for quite a while and he beat me in the finals of the U.S. Open juniors, so I would like the opportunity to play him on that stage. A close second would have been to play Pete (Sampras) at Wimbledon. I would have really enjoyed that challenge.

Re: Robby Ginepri

Roddick and Ginepri rivals come on Ginepri, wake up and smell the coffee! how many times have they faced eachother on the pro circuit i think twice, and Andy won them both. i guess he wan't sto play Andy in the finals of the US Open to get killed, and face Sampras at the Wimbledon finals to get served off the court
