Well, James seems to have this match in the bag. Too bad about Andy not playing anywhere near his level from yesterday but I'm still enjoying their banter, and Andy's dives were hilarious.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

this is really bad. this was a huge match going in, it was Andy's chance to show he is still the best American. He came out flat and blew his first serve game. He has owned James and this tournament and James is not that good on grass typically, especially compared to Andy. Andy needed it more, for a lot of reasons. And he didn't rise to the occasion like he should've.

All in all, I see nothing to laugh about, can't help it

why the hell is he so far behind the baseline, on grass?

Best twitter posts of the epic match:

@dougrobson - Whoever is supplying Mahut with hair gel needs to ink a sponsorship deal now.

@Wimbledon - FYI, with @Wimbledon live scoring devices, please add 50 to the games in the fifth set of the Isner v Mahut match.

@HolterMedia - Nice to see that a three-day test has come to tennis here @wimbledon.

It doesn't even matter, Fee. James's shots are so deep that when he's at the baseline, he's catching them way late.

Re: The "It will be a HEALTHY grass season" thread. (Queens)

I agree Deb. I fully expected him to come out and win this match in two sets. A tough match but a good win for him. Very disappointing after a stellar match against Gonzalez yesterday. Unfortunately, this has become the norm for him. Losses don't seem to bother him as much. Being someone who is not really taken seriously as a contender for major championships does not seem to bother him anymore. Being seen as a paper tiger, a borderline fraud as a top player and virtual laughingstock by the tennis world does not seem to bother him.

He was not going to have as good a career as Federer, who had more god given ability but he sure as hell could have been much better than what he has become. Really a pity for him and his loyal fans he has not taken as much advantage of the talent he was given as he could have.

the first thing the commentator screams is "And America has a new top dog"

And that's why I can't laugh.

And a great match from James He deserved to win.

Andy didn't play well at all. It sucks that he can't seem to string together one great match after another.

Andy Hope he can find a more consistent confidence and success soon.

What sucks most of all is that we know damn well andy will go into the interview room and say "James was just too good nothing I could do" which is true but only to a point. in all 3 games he was broken, he played awful BPs and really helped break himself. and his forehand was horrendous and he was lazy out there today. I just know it will make me

Pete and Andre have both said that they were better players because the other one was out there to compete against. Maybe this is what Andy needs, to realize that James really is gaining on him. Perhaps this will motivate him to get in gear and stop coasting so much.

I know. When he said that I actually felt like crying. I still do! I was happy an hour ago and since then everything has gone wrong and now I'm sad! If Andy hadn't played so well yesterday I wouldn't be so angry but he was a completely different person out there today. If he changes like this between every match then I'm worried about his wimbledon chances.
