APAT (Another Pointless Andy Thread)

As I said in another thread I watched set 5 of the 2001 USO QF against Hewitt... anyone who doesn't think that anger doesn't get the best of Andy and brings down his level of play needs to see the last game. GAH! It's a shame to see such an amazingly high-quality fifth set (I wish the match was on VHS and not DVD or I'd make vids of some of the amazing points Andy played lol) and then for it to end the way it did. He probably has, but Andy needs to watch that one game over and over and over...... and over. and make sure he never does it again lol

And yet it also showed so much about Andy and the kind of person he is, especially considering he had just turned 19. It ends on such a horrible note and they talk to Andy right after the match, his voice all shaky and it looks like he's gonna cry and he's STILL visibly really mad about the bad call and the first thing he does is thank the fans and the second congratulate Lleyton. Yea, Andy's such a stuck-up ass

but man, I cannot WAIT to see them play again! Their contrasting styles really do make it exciting, plus I love how they both play at such high intensity.

and tangie, as much as you prepared me for these matches it didn't work LOL

OK I told you this was sort of pointless.... don't mind me!

Re: Not sure what to title this thread lol

lol was that really a rant? haha guess so. If I hadn't already known about his meltdown, I probably would've gotten really mad at him about it lmao. When he gets angry like that and lets it distract his game - those are the only times I hate him LOL!

Hate is such a strong word. You can't really hate Andy now can you.

Re: Not sure what to title this thread lol

Since that match, Andy hasn't had a meltdown as bad as that one, so at least he learned his lesson. He had several bad calls in the AO but he did manage to shake them off. He is learning.

And I agree, I absolutely cannot wait for Andy and Lleyton to meet up again. Watch the fireworks explode!

And bunk, did you catch that part where Andy looked like he was about to stiff the chair ump and not shake his hand after the game? It seemed like at the last second, he decided against it and went back to shake the guy's hand. That's how angry Andy was. Hoo boy!

Maybe you should rename this thread "Pointless Thread"?

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

totally, that was something I thought about - thank goodness! LOL! Actually that AO match was one of the best I've seen from him where he got angry and didn't let it get to him. But then again that match was just special from all accounts lol... he's gotten a lot better for SURE, and especially under Brad, but he did have a couple minor meltdowns that weren't too pretty (I heard the Henman match over the summer that he lost was pretty bad and he should've won)

YES Lol I did notice that, I was like "Whoa Andy" and then he went over and I wanted to pat his head *good boy* LOL!

The other thing I noticed was whenever they went into the stands to talk to PMac.... I didn't realize his lips have been attached to Andy's ass THAT long! LMAO!!!!!!!!

Yeah, Patty Mac is quite enamored with Andy, isn't he? And who can blame him?

It was the Legg Mason one in DC... I didn't see it but I read about it. Andy had at least one if not two MPs and I just remember reading about a meltdown.... wish I could remember where It wasn't a post-match press conference b/c that tournament's too small for ASAP to cover it.. so I dunno lol

LOL so it's an APAT

the other Andy "metldown" was washington semis vs henman. yup he had matchpoint, but it was on henman's serve, and we all know how well Andy returns now do we the metldown happened in the 2nd set, which is why he had lost it, not the 3rd set. he lost the 3rd set because he played utter crao in the tiebreak, but better for us because i think had he won that match, he wouldnt have won Montreal, Cincy, and then the US Open. oh and you can forgive Andy, i mean the kid was only just that, a kid at 19 years old i mean that was probably the biggest match of his career right there, and when it was only your 1st year on tour and to be in such a huge match like that, he had no experience to draw from. oh and if Hewitt and Andy meet up again, expect Andy to win im dead serious. Hewitt plays crappy, oops i mean scrappy tennis, and Andy doesn't give away so many points as he used to, and he'll pick apart that hoprrible Hewitt serve like there's no tomorrow

Re: Not sure what to title this thread lol

thanks for clearing up the Henman stuff... whatever I read made it absolutely sound like Andy would've won the match if it weren't for the meltdown lol..

oh and I do forgive him for the Hewitt match meltdown!

Re: APAT (Another Pointless Andy Thread)

check out the article tangy posted in the article thread. the quotes from Brad clearly suggest that it was the little meltdown that ruined his concentration throughout the whole match. Well whatever, it's still something he has to work on and it's definitely getting better, but he still has a ways to go
