Re: Andy gets an F for attendance. :( -- TMC thread

Personally, my issue with the charity thing is more of him making that trip, which was probably the last thing he needed, rather than playing the 4 sets. It's exhibition, and according to what was posted on the Charity thread, it seemed like he's goofing around more than he's actually playing (except, maybe when he's fighting it out with James)...

And, he said that he won't be able to play and compete for at least another 10-14 days, so there's probably no way he's gonna make it for TMC to begin with anyways...

Easily one of THE WORST TMC events ever. Personally I don't think the exhibition should be to blame. Yeah it didn't entirely help either, but him participating in it made him realize that no his back wouldn't be in proper shape to perform at a high level for the TMC. The likes of Davydenko/Ljubicic/Gausio/Nalbandian/Coria ALL in one TMC, oh help me god :bigcry:.
I was saying the same thing with some friends a few days ago. Compare last year's field to this year - it just looks like a big joke. Hopefully, normal services will resume next year.

So, are we all preparing a year-in-review kind of speech? I think what Candy Reid (CNN sports anchor) said, when answering a question on Andy, hit right at the target - Andy's got another good, solid year, but not a great one - by his standards. But really, it's been a bad year for most top players...
This recent European 'adventure' may prove to be a positive thing. He looks to be believing in himself again. :)

“I apologize to the loyal fans ."
im going to TRY and accept this apology..i know he didnt do it on purpose im just super disappointed.

i think we still love you andy...or we will in a couple days...make that after the masters is over.

i think he really exerted himself in the charity thing because he knew he couldnt go...the doctors said 10-14 days & if its back spasms they would have probbly told him that after his initial medical consult...i believe

Darcy  thanks for posting all the optimistic articles earlier. I think Andy was a lost cause since Bercy, but we all just needed to believe he was going to make it.

Wonder Twin Powers - Activate! Did anyone notice in Davis Cup at the beginning of the 5th set with dear Ollie, Andy low five'd the Bryan's and said, "help me?" Well, the wonder twins did their thing and it all worked out in the end. I hope they win it again this year.

andy

on one hand im totally pissed that he isnt playing, but then im a little worried... it must be pretty bad for him to miss shanghai!

the quotes in that article... what a jerk! "to all the loyal fans" and when he was talking about the freaking government and how he knows they've put in lots of effort.
im just so upset!!

Re: Andy gets an F for attendance. :( -- TMC thread

Poor Andy
But I really do think that he is just as upset about this as we are. I mean, if we know how weak the competing field is this year (relatively speaking) then I'm sure he realizes it as well. With Roger, Rafael, and Andre injured and Lleyton and Marat out, I'm sure he was excited to play.

And I really don't think the charity event made his injury any worse. He was probably going to make the trip to the US anyway to see his own doctors, and didn't he go to Austin before PA? Then he probably knew he wouldn't be able to play for 10-14 days before the exhibition and figured why not get in a few last sets for the year. Because after all, it is Andy, and if he can walk, he can play for charity.

But still, that doesn't make up for the disappointment--not in him, just in the bad luck and unfortunate situation. Sorry to athena and the others who were planning to see him this week. Hopefully he'll use this time wisely and really prepare for the coming season

Yeah... It's unfortunate Andy got an injury just before Shanghai, it kind of takes the fizzle out of the last part of the season. But considering he has like two months of a solid off season without this and any DC action, we can expect a strong start to the new season.

I just hope that in an atypical Andy style, he starts the pre-season training a little before his first tournament

Oh well at least we can carry on our lives without worrying about Andy's 2005 end of year results.

Pitty about Shangai. He wouldn't be able to compete with the top players if not fully fit anyway. He should rest and think about next year and work towards keeping his number 3 ranking, at least. :0
