On Wednesday morning around 9:30 a.m., Andy Roddick will head down to 4 Times Square on 43rd & Broadway to the broadcast studio of the NASDAQ Stock Market. Andy will join NASDAQ host Glen Wolyner, Executive Vice President, Transaction Services and Butch Buchholz, Tournament Chairman and Founder of the NASDAQ-100 Open, to preside over the Market Open. Andy was issued an invitation by the trading exchange in advance of the 2003 US Open and to support the 20th anniversary of the NASDAQ-100 Open (March 24-April 4, 2004).
Roddick‚s rise to tennis stardom began in earnest at the 2001 NASDAQ-100 Open in Miami, when the then 18-year-old wildcard entry defeated former World No. 1 players Marcelo Rios and Pete Sampras in succession. The 20-year-old Boca Raton, FL resident has reached the semifinals of two Grand Slams in 2003, the Australian Open and Wimbledon. Roddick, recent champion at the Masters Series event in Montreal and the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters in Cincinnati, is the fourth-ranked tennis player in the world and is currently leading the 2003 ATP Champions Race. Roddick will be seeded fourth in this year's US Open.
