Lleyton Hewitt pulling out of Roland Garros totally changed the complexity of the draw. Nadal, Coria and Federer would have all been in the same quarter. Coria was the biggest benefactor of Hewitt’s absence. The big talk here has been the potential 3rd Round confrontation of Nadal and Gasquet. And like in Australia Andy got another Betty Crocker draw; he couldn’t have made up the draw in the back room any better than what he got. (I really beg to differ)
If the weather stays warm Andy could a have a real shot and going deep into the second week
. I sat and watched Nadal practice for an hour yesterday. This kid is a huge hitter; you could hear his ball from two courts away.
On the women's side, six of the first nine seeds are Russian. Henin-Hardenne is the overwhelming favorite; her biggest test could be Sharapova in the Quarters
. The French really believe that since Mauresmo is working with Noah that this could be her year. The real question to me is Clijsters and how will her knee holds up for two weeks. That was a good move by Venus, going to play in Turkey and wining her first event of the year it looks like she may have picked up some confidence over there. Bottom line: Somebody is going to have to prove to me that they can beat Henin-Hardenne.
