Re: Spring Hardcourt Season

I think he played because he is so frustrated of what happenes lately want to just push something and get it going. Obviously the ankle injury is not that bad, it just stops him from moving like he can. I don't know this decision is right. On the one hand, he is losing all the time, on the other hand, he won't play well in IW/Miami if he just shows up after Australia. He is going to lose the fisrt rounds there also.

Now, he is scheduled to play Delray Beach...

Re: Spring Hardcourt Season

Hmm... I don't know what to think about this... from one point of view he does need points. Quite badly. But then again... does he think that he is going to beat those lower ranked guys in 250 tourney on one leg? Tbh, I am not sure that he is able to do this anymore, and I am not talking about the semi-final/final stage, I am talking about 2nd and 3rd round here! He needs to be fully fit in order to compete. It seems to me that he is unsure, how to deal with the current situation, when more playing can damage his health and no playing will bring him down more and more in the rankings. If I could suggest him anything, I would suggest taking time off, working on physical shape and doing some rehab on the niggling injuries. Next points he has to defend are 4th round in IW, and then no points to defend at all till Queens! Surely, he won't slip much more down in the rankings, he just needs to get back as fit as possible to compete.

At this point every draw is hard for Andy. I hope he gets one win, just for a change.

Re: Spring Hardcourt Season

A few more first round losses and hopefully he'll get the hint and retire. Doesn't he know it how much it pains his fans to watch this?

To be fair, I can't imagine he's enjoying it very much either.

Re: Spring Hardcourt Season

Andy won, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. A win is a win. It was tragic but at least he started to play loads better in the third. Anything to get something going.

We've reached the point of being excited about him winning a first round match in a 250 event

Re: Spring Hardcourt Season

Yes But what to do, I have already accepted such a fact. I just hope he can go here as far as it's possible. Thanks God that he pulled this one off, now a rematch with Istomin.

Roddick said he’s confident that he is capable of returning to the ATP top 10 rankings, and a good show here this week could jump-start that ride back to elite status.

“It’ll take one event to turn it, and it’s happened before and I feel confident it’ll happen again,” Roddick said. “The last three or four days I’ve started running, and I feel pretty good right now.

Glad he's still motivating.

I've had my hopes so low, that a first round win is just the icing. If by some miracle he gets past Istomin, we would all lose our minds.

"Right now I just want to feel like a tennis player again." —Andy Roddick

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

Re: Spring Hardcourt Season

That was a very good article on Andy. It reminded me exactly why I am a fan of his. It's nice to see that he has people around him that will help him stay positive.

When I heard Andy say he wanted to feel like a tennis player again it was kind of sweet. I forget how hard it must be for him to slip and I still believe in him.
